Considering Sites for Development in Inwardleigh Parish (Including Folly Gate) Site Information Pack Considering Sites for Development in Inwardleigh Parish (including Folly Gate) Site Information Pack This pack contains: A Site Information Table This table sets out information about the constraints and opportunities for each site which has been considered in each settlement. A conclusion about each site’s potential for development has been recorded in the following ways: ACCEPTED SITES Sites which are allocated or have planning permission and are deliverable within the next 5 years. POTENTIAL MEDIUM TERM (6‐15 YEARS) SITES Sites with limited constraints and/or constraints which can be overcome but which are not currently in the planning system. The principle of development on these sites is not yet established through an adopted Development Plan or Neighbourhood Plan. POTENTIAL MEDIUM TERM (6‐15 YEARS) SITES – AVAILABILITY UNCONFIRMED Sites with limited constraints and/or constraints which can be overcome but which are not currently in the planning system and their availability is unconfirmed. The principle of development on these sites is not yet established through an adopted Development Plan or Neighbourhood Plan. WINDFALL SITES Sites which are not allocated for development but where the principle of development is established through an approved planning consent or is likely to be granted consent on the basis of existing and emerging policy. REJECTED SITES Sites which have significant constraints which cannot be overcome or are likely to make development unviable and sites which are in unsuitable locations. Site Information Packs July 2016 For all accepted sites, potential medium term sites and windfall sites, an indication of the site’s overall capacity as well as an assessment of its potential has been recorded. Site Capacity – this means how much development could be delivered on the site taking into account physical constraints (e.g. flood zones) but not taking into account policy considerations (i.e. what level of development is appropriate for the settlement) or infrastructure constraints (i.e. what could be realistically and reasonably accommodated in the settlement). It has only a limited range of facilities within the village which include a pub and village hall. The designated primary schools for Folly Gate are Okehampton and Hatherleigh Primary Schools. There will be a requirement to provide financial contributions towards primary school transport from any new development. Development will also need to contribute towards additional primary school land and/or facilities at either Okehampton or Hatherleigh. Hatherleigh's current site is not capable of expansion and some land next to the school site would have to be secured. The designated secondary school is Okehampton College and financial contributions will be required from new development towards additional capacity and secondary transport. General consultation comments In addition to the applications with consent or live applications, Inwardleigh Parish Council does not envisage further development in Folly Gate. In subsequent years additional select purchases were made from Haylane and Woodhayes. They have always purchased the best quality cattle to create the Kingsmeade herd. The herd are grazed at Kingsmeade Farm, Williton, Taunton, Somerset and loosed housed on straw in the winter months and fed conservation hay in the lead up to calving. The farm has never had a case of TB and was pre movement tested on 3rd/6th July. There has never been any known issues of any health problems in the herd and they have always been careful in selecting to purchase from Hi Health status herds and have only bought foster calves from a Hi Health nearby dairy unit. The young heifers were injected with Bovella on 23rd January and had a clear blood test.

Several excellent runs of real store cattle consigned by new and regular supporters of the market delivered some astounding price. A 26m Simmental steer, one in an entry of fifteen, from Michael Tooze & family, Broadsands realised the top price on the day of £1360 with similar aged Limousins to £1255, South Devons to £1250 and Angus steers to £1240 etc. Daughter Gemma Tooze sold two 25m South Devon steers at £1250 apiece. Another highlight of the sale was an entry of fifteen smart British Blue steers all in the 21-24m age bracket that sold readily in matching groups to a top of £1250 (x5) also £1240 (x4), £1220 (x3) and £1195 (x3). A further entry of 21 South Devon and Charolais crosses from John Trounce, Truro saw his best 20m Charolais steers rise to £1290 and heifers of the same age to £1070. South Devons off this Cornish farm saw 18m steers to £1125 (x3), 15-17m to £1020 and 18m heifers to £975. J Matthews & Son, Saltash presented twenty-six well bred South Devon cattle with steers at 16-20m selling in matching groups to £1170 (x5), £1125 (x5), £1055 (x4), £1040 (x4) while 18-22m heifers made to £1000 (x4) with younger sorts to £920.

The primary focus of this thesis is the large number of unaccompanied children who were officially evacuated to the County under the auspices of the Government Evacuation Scheme during the Second World War. However, Chapter Six discusses the evacuation of mothers and accompanying children, unofficial (private) evacuees and private school parties. The majority of evacuated children arriving in Devon originated from the London area and southeastern counties. In addition large numbers of children were also evacuated to the County from Bristol and within the County from Plymouth (Devon) during 1941 and briefly from Exeter in May 1942. Each of the three national evacuation waves is considered individually throughout the text as they are quite distinct in complexion, a fact frequently ignored in generalised accounts which tend to focus on reaction to the initial wave.
