Bill Cipher was a triangular dream demon, formerly existent only in the mindscape before succeeding in gaining access to the real world. He had been running amok in Gravity Falls, Oregon since being summoned by Stanford Pines over thirty years ago, and was also known for his mysterious demeanor and sadistic humor. Bill is the main antagonist of Gravity Falls, although he doesn't play a central role in the series until the penultimate Season 1 episode "Dreamscaperers". W Internecie jest mnóstwo dowodów na to, że tworzone przez niego niewinne animacje mogą mieć mroczną genezę. Gravity Falls wydaje się potwierdzeniem istnienia teorii spiskowych. Główny adwersarz bohaterów, Bill Cipher, wychodzi poza klasycznie pojmowaną teorię spiskową, pozostawiając dojrzałego widza z mieszanymi uczuciami. Gravity Falls zostało stworzone przez Alexa Hirscha. Autor przy- znał, że inspiracją było dla niego dzieciństwo, a dokładnie wakacje, które spędzał ze swoją siostrą. Główni bohaterowie: rodzeństwo Dipper i Mabel Pines oraz tytułowe miasteczko, mają źródło w prze- życiach rodzeństwa Hirsch. Produkcja na samym początku wydaje się nie odbiegać od innych pod względem fabuły. Dipper odnajduje tajemniczy dziennik, w którym opisane są sekrety i dzieje miasteczka. Wraz ze swoją bliźniaczką podejmuje się rozwiązania zagadki rękopi- su. W toku rozwoju fabuły pojawia się coraz więcej tajemnic oraz... szyfrów. W każdym odcinku ukryte są ciągi znaków, które widz po- winien złamać. To nie jest trudne. Wiadomości są zapisywane metodą przesunięcia Cezariańskiego2 oraz innymi rodzajami szyfrów przed- stawieniowych.
