JOHN POWELL 4 88th WIEP 2021 PSA 2021-1023 CHAIRMAN’S COMMENTS Picture the perfect retirement The 88th Wilmington International Exhibition of Photography (WIEP) was a wonderful success thanks to the contributions of over 20 volunteers from the Delaware Photographic Society, who worked tirelessly to ensure that all of our operations ran smoothly. I am indebted to each and every one of you who helped to execute this exceptional photography endeavor. As with many other endeavors this past year, our normal process of welcoming both prints and projected images was interrupted by the international COVID-19 pandemic. As such we were not able to accept prints for the first time in the long history of WIEP. So, we decided to hold a projected image only competition for this year, and, hopefully, we will return to welcoming both prints and projected images next year. This year we received over 2,580 projected images from 32 countries around the world. Another part of WIEP that was disrupted this year was the in-person exhibition which we have held at the University of Delaware Wilmington campus for the past several years. We are looking forward to returning there for our print exhibition as soon as possible. So, for this year, we are proud to present a professional audio-visual presentation of the best projected images, which is included on a DVD with our exhibition catalog. Chart a course to a sunnier future at Cokesbury The entire WIEP team is grateful to our distinguished judges, who Village and Country House, premier Acts traveled virtually from Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Hong Kong, Retirement-Life Communities in Delaware.
