UNDER THE PLANTS’ IRRIGATION AND HARVESTING METHOD Ewa Ro żek, Renata Nurzy ńska-Wierdak, Andrzej Sałata, Piotr Gumiela University of Life Sciences on Lublin Abstract. Qualitative and quantitative composition of the essential oil is subject to differ- ent types of variability. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of irrigation and harvest date on the content and composition of essential oil distilled from leaves, petioles and leaf blades of Apium graveolens L. var. secalinum Alef. Drip irrigation was carried out twice in the third 10 days of July and twice in the third 10 days of August. A single dose of water was 20 mm. The raw material was harvested on September 7 and October 17, thus collecting leaves after 120 and 161 days of plant growth, respectively. Irrigation increased the concentration of volatile substances in leaf blades (0.68%) and decreased the content of these components in petioles (0.24%). Celery leaves harvested in October contained significantly less essential oil (0.34%) compared to those collected in the first 10 days of September (0.53%). Monoterpenes proved to be the main fraction in the essen- tial oil of leaf celery, limonene and myrcene being predominant among them. Most limo- nene (75.77%) was found in petioles of irrigated plants. Leaves of irrigated plants con- tained more limonene and less myrcene compared to leaves of non-irrigated plants. -

ORCID ID: http://orcid.org/0000-0002-9167-6027 *Corresponding author Abstract Priogymnanthus colombianus, a new species and the first record of the South American genus of Oleaceae for Colombia is described and illustrated also we present a dichotomic key for the known species of genus. The new species differs from the three knowns for Priogymnanthus by: leaves oblong or oblong-elliptic, completely glabrous, petioles 10–17 (19) mm; inflorescences 15–20 (25) mm in length, with glabrous rachis, anthers about 3 mm length; fruits (10) 12–15 mm in diameter. P. colombianus occurs on premontane and dry forest in Colombia between 719 and 1213 m of elevation. Based on general threats to its ecosystems and few records found, we categorize the species as EN (endangered) following IUCN criteria. Resumen Se describe e ilustra Priogymnanthus colombianus, una nueva especie y primer representante de este género suramericano de Oleaceae en Colombia, y se presenta una clave dicotómica para la identificación de las especies conocidas del género. -

Once especies parasíticas del minador de la hoja de los cítricos, Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton, fueron obtenidas en Tamaulipas y norte de Veracruz (diez de Eulophidae y una de Elasmidae). El género Cirrospilus está representado por tres especies, al menos, Cirrospilus sp C fue la especie más común. Se registra a Cirrospilus sp. B como parasitoide de P. citrella en México. Se elaboró una clave para la determinación taxonómica de las especies obtenidas. PALABRAS CLAVE: Phyllocnistis citrella, parasitoides, clave de especies, México. ABSTRACT. Eleven parasitic species of citrus leafminer, Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton, were obtained in Tamaulipas and northern Veracruz (ten species in Eulophidae and one in Elasmidae). The genus Cirrospilus is represented by three species, at least, Cirrospilus sp. C was the commoner. Cirrospilus sp. Bis recorded as P. citrella parasitoid in México. A key for the taxonomical determination of the species was prepared. KEY WORDS: Phyllocnistis citrella, parasitoids, key to species, México.
