The Minecraft Survival Challenge!

Here are a series of challenges that will test your skills in Minecraft. Every challenge is optional, but you must earn at least a total of 2000 experience points (XP) during this class. You can choose which quests you wish to complete. Just make sure that you earn a total of at least 2000 XP! Some are easy. Some are more difficult. Some of the quests you’ll be able to complete on your own. Some will require help from friends.

Remember, you can always find information and help online. The Minecraft Wiki has lots of useful information. Use it! You can find it here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/

When you’ve successfully completed a quest, you have to be able to prove it to your teacher. Show them and have your teacher date and initial below.

The Basics

A Safe House Build a basic shelter. It can be made of dirt, 20 stone, or wood. It can even be a cave. It just has to keep monsters out during the night.

Tool Time! Build a crafting table. Using your crafting 20 table, make a full set of basic tools including: a pick, an axe, a shovel, a hoe, and a sword. These can be made of wood, stone, or anything higher.

Light It Up! Find some coal. Make torches! Use your 20 torches to light your home. You should have at least five torches.

The Furnace Build a furnace and place it in your shelter or 20 home.

Stockpile Build at least two mini storage chests or one 20 large storage chest.

Settling In

My Home Build a real home. It should have at least 150 two floors and three rooms. You may work with a partner on this. if you do, double the room number.

In The Garden Create a garden near your home. Plant 50 it with wheat and at least one other plant - melons, pumpkins, potatoes, sugar cane, etc.

Rancher! Build an animal pen and raise at least two 100 chickens, two cows, two sheep, or two pigs. You have to figure out how to get them in there! Feed them too!

What’s Bake five loaves of bread, two pork chops, 50 Cookin’? two steaks, and two pieces of grilled chicken.

Time for Make a cake or cookies. 50 Dessert!

Gone Fishin’! Make a fishing pole and catch at least 10 50 fish.

Landscape Landscape around your home. Add at least 50 This Place 10 flowers, a sidewalk or porch, a fence, and outdoor lights of some sort.

Nap Time Build a bed and put it in your home. 50

Decorations Hang at least two paintings on the wall in 50 your home.

To The Mines! Collect at least 10 iron ingots, 5 gold ingots, 100 20 redstone dust, 5 lapis lazuli. and one diamond. (You have to smelt the ores in a furnace to make the ingots!) Put all of these in your chest, together, and show your teacher. You can trade for these with other students if needed.

Build A Suit of Build a full suit of armor. It should include a 100 Armor helm, a chest piece, legs, and boots. Any material is fine.

Monster Collect at least 10 bones and 10 arrows 100 Hunting! (from skeletons), 10 rotten flesh from zombies, 5 spider eyes, one gunpowder from a creeper, one ender pearl. Put all these together in a chest and show your teacher. You can trade for these with other students if needed.

Tree Farm Plant a tree farm near your home with at 50 least two spruce trees, two birch trees, and two oak trees. Put a sign nearby to identify your tree farm.

My Pet Tame a wolf or an ocelot. 50

Suey Piggy Saddle and ride a pig. 50

A Horse With Tame and saddle a horse. Build a pen or 100 No Name stable for your horse.

On The Rails Build a Minecart and at least 20 connected 100 rails for it to travel on. Put it either in your mine or in/near your home.

When and Make a compass, a map, and a clock. 100 Where Am I?

Dyed in The Make dyed wool blocks of at least five 100 Wool different colors and place them, together, somewhere in your home.

Adventure Time

The Gateway Collect obsidian and build a nether portal in 100 or near your home.

Through The Travel to the Nether. Collect ten netherrack, 100 Flames 5 glowstone, 5 nether quartz, one soul sand, and one nether wart. Put these in a chest, together, and show your teacher.

Redstone Build a redstone device of some sort. It 100 should use at least one switch of some sort.

Making The Put something in your home that’s operated 50 Switch by a switch, a lever, or a pressure plate.

Contraptions! Build a redstone-powered device that 100 automates something. (Automatic food harvester, automatic minecart system, etc.)

I’m A Wizard! Build an enchanting table with at least 100 three bookshelves nearby and put them somewhere in your home.

Enchanted Enchant your sword and at least one piece of 100 your armor.

Bubble, Make at least five potions of some sort. 100 bubble.

Epic Challenges

To The End Locate and open a portal to The End. If this 200 is done, everyone in the class gets credit!!

Dragon-Foe! Successfully defeat the Ender Dragon. You 100 will probably need friends to help you with this.

Jammin’ Find a music disc. Build a jukebox and play 50 it.

Community Challenges

Edmodo’d Join the community Edmodo Group 20

Sharererer Share something you’ve created with a 20 screenshot and a description on the Edmodo Group.

Event Planner Design, develop, plan, organize, run a 200 community event for the server for one month.

Who Made Volunteer to be a judge for a community 50 You Judge? event.

Epic Win Be selected as a finalist in a monthly 100 community challenge.

The Herald Write an article about an event or community 100 activity in the Minecraft Edmodo group to be published online.

Game Master Create an adventure map-style challenge, 100 puzzle, or quest within the server, complete with puzzles/riddles, and !
