    SWIMMING AUSTRALIA SELECTION POLICY 2021 AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR TEAM 1. Definitions and Interpretation a) This Selection Policy is to be read in conjunction with the Swimming Australia (SA) Selection Guidelines. b) All defined terms in this Selection Policy have the same meaning as in the Selection Guidelines, unless otherwise stated. c) In this Selection Policy, the following words have the corresponding meaning: (i) FINA Point Score means the scoring system administered by FINA and available at http://www.fina.org/content/fina-points (ii) Individual Olympic Event means an individual swimming event that will form part of the next Olympic Games; and (iii) Non-Olympic Event means an individual or relay swimming event that will form part of the Competition that, at the time of SA implementing this Selection Policy, is not part of the swimming program at the next Olympic Games. 2. Background a) For the purposes of this Selection Policy: (i) the Team is the Australian Swim Team; (ii) the Competition is the 2021 Pathways Duel Meet; (iii) the Competition will take place on 18-21 August in [Brisbane TBC]; and (iv) the Qualifying Events are the; (A) final of the 2021 Australian Age Championships, which will take place on 5-12 April 2021 in Gold Coast. (B) final of the 2021 Australian Swimming Championships, which will take place on 14 – 18 April 2021 in Gold Coast. b) This Selection Policy details the process and criteria by which SA will select athletes to the Team to compete at the Competition. 3.     SWIMMING AUSTRALIA NOMINATION CRITERIA TOKYO 2020 OLYMPIC GAMES SWIMMING (To be held in 2021) 1 Definitions and Interpretation 1.1 Definitions Unless otherwise defined below, capitalised terms in this Nomination Criteria have the meaning given to them in the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) Olympic Team Nomination and Selection By-Law, certain of which have been reproduced below for the sake of convenience. Alternative Qualifying Events means the Designated Consideration Meets and Secondary Consideration Meets, to be considered by the SAL Selection Committee only if the Qualifying Event is cancelled. AOC means the Australian Olympic Committee Inc and any of its officers, employees or agents and any committee it convenes including the AOC Selection Committee. AOC Olympic Team Nomination and Selection By-Law means the document adopted by the Executive which governs, among other things, the nomination and selection of Athletes to a team for an Olympic Games or Olympic Winter Games. AOC Selection Committee means the committee established by the AOC to send athletes and appoint officials to the Australian Olympic team for the Games. AOC Selection Criteria means the criteria adopted by the AOC in respect of the Games which outlines the requirements for an athlete to be selected by the AOC to participate in the Games. Athlete means a person who: (a) participates in the Sport; and (b) is recognised by the National Federation or the AOC as eligible for nomination to the AOC for selection to the Team pursuant to this Nomination Criteria. Designated Consideration Meets means the events set out in clause 13. Executive means the Executive of the AOC.

Every year the team strive to go that bit further and this year is no exception. Free WiFi, live streaming, drones in the air, a revamped Convention App, free functions and lunches included all make a return. Added to this year’s mix will be tours of the Commonwealth Games facilities including a peek behind the scenes, and no doubt there will be a few surprises similar to last year when Borobi, the Commonwealth Games mascot turning up with 170 other people to our Awards dinner. Who knew that gum leaves were on the menu! We have worked extremely hard this year to secure high profile and well recognised key international presenters to the Gold Coast. Thanks must go to Swimming Australia for their financial assistance which is further evidence of their recognition of the significant contribution that Coaches, Teachers and Swim Schools make to the sport of swimming and the success of swimming clubs.

The Australian team will consist of 50 athletes and officials competing in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling and Football. We wish all competitors and officials the very best in their pursuit of success! Since May 2015 the Active Deaf Kids Program led by Irena Farinacci has visited: • Sydney, Dubbo, Central Coast, Perth, Hobart and Deloraine • Over 300 children from 20 schools have been involved in the Multi Sports Day events • The ADK brand is gaining a strong national foothold that has translated into a pleasing acceptance by the Australian Sports Commission to continue funding the program • Planning has commenced on the development of a new Active Deaf Clubs initiative that will see sport clubs becoming more inclusive.

During the year changes have occurred within the national high performance system that have, and will continue to im- pact on the Institute as it fulfils its role as a valued contribu- tor to Australia’s international sporting success. The development of the National Institutes System Inter- governmental Agreement (NISIA) and the Tasmanian Gov- ernment’s commitment to be a signatory to this agreement provided the opportunity for the TIS Board of Management to review its future role, purpose and function. As a result the Board determined that, after some 25 years of overseeing the development of the TIS, it was now time to cease its function.

    MEDIA RELEASE 1 OCTOBER 2020 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NATIONAL SPORTING ORGANISATIONS COMMIT TO LANDMARK TRANS AND GENDER DIVERSE INCLUSION MEASURES In a world first, eight peak sporting bodies have committed to implementing governance that supports a greater level of inclusion for trans and gender diverse people in their sports. At a launch held today at the Sydney Cricket Ground, leading national sporting organisations (NSOs) came together to unveil their policies and guidelines relating to the participation of trans and gender diverse people. The NSOs are: • AFL • Tennis Australia • Hockey Australia • Touch Football Australia • Netball Australia • UniSport Australia • Rugby Australia • Water Polo Australia In addition, a range of NSOs have also committed to developing trans and gender diverse inclusion frameworks for their sports following the launch, including: • Australian Dragon Boating Federation • Judo Australia • Bowls Australia • Softball Australia • Diving Australia • Squash Australia • Football Federation Australia • Surf Life Saving Australia • Golf Australia • Swimming Australia • Gymnastics Australia • Triathlon Australia After launching their own trans and gender diverse inclusion governance in 2019, Cricket Australia have also committed to supporting other NSOs throughout this process. This initiative, spearheaded by ACON’s Pride in Sport program, Australia’s only program specifically designed to assist sporting organisations with the inclusion of people of diverse sexualities and genders at all levels, was undertaken following the identification of a need for national guidance on how NSOs can be inclusive of trans and gender diverse people. Pride in Sport National Program Manager, Beau Newell, said that the joint commitment made by the NSOs marks a major moment in Australian sport. “This launch demonstrates a fundamental shift within Australian sport towards the greater inclusion of trans and gender diverse athletes.
