    POPULATION PROFILE REPORT Sussex and East Surrey has a population of 1.87 million people, across a geographical area of nearly 4,000 square metres. It is a land of contrast, with urban, rural, coastal and landlocked communities. There are areas of affluence, and deprivation. This report outlines the population profiles for Sussex and East Surrey. It highlights the equalities groups and socio-economic make-ups of our communities. It aims to identify whether there are groups within the population that need further engagement. It is structured around key themes found in populations: Age profile (pp. 1 - 4); Deprivation (pp. 4 – 7); Sexual orientation (p. 7); Race and Language (pp. 8 – 11); Disability (pp. 11 – 13) Carers (p. 14); Religion (pp. 14 - 15). The report has used data from the 2011 census collected by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), and statistics gathered by local authorities. 1. Age profile i.
