Sussex Modern is a growing business-led partnership between some of the UK's most vibrant and pioneering cultural organisations and vineyards, with the distinctive landscape of the South Downs National Park at its heart. It brings together unique experiences across Sussex with the creativity that defines the county's modern, innovative, and independent spirit. Through engagement with carefully selected partners, Sussex Modern has begun to reposition and strengthen perceptions of Sussex through a shared narrative that celebrates the county’s unique contribution to modern culture and experiences by encouraging audiences to ‘join the dots’ and curate their own visits. Following two successful pilot campaigns, Sussex Modern is expanding its brand proposition and remit as part of a wider wine tourism strategy to increase audience awareness and engagement, and grow self-guided tourism from targeted domestic and overseas markets. Campaign Manager Contract: 18 months fixed-term with a view to becoming permanent Reporting to: Sussex Modern Steering Group Salary: £28-30k (dependent on experience) Hours: 4 days per week. Some evening and weekend work will be required at certain times during the year Location: Remote / Sussex Main purpose of role We are seeking a strategic, creative and proactive individual with ideas, energy and enthusiasm to support Sussex Modern’s next chapter, and deliver the brand’s associated marketing, communications and digital campaigns. This is an ideal opportunity for a Sussex-based marketing professional with strong project and stakeholder management skills, and previous experience working for a tourism, arts, heritage, viticulture or lifestyle brand. The Campaign Manager will plan, develop and deliver integrated marketing campaigns to increase audience awareness and engagement, and grow self- guided tourism from targeted domestic and overseas markets. You will be joining at an exciting time for the brand as we embark on a major campaign to support the recovery and growth of the visitor economy through wine tourism and culture. This is a new role with a growing brand. The successful applicant will be employed by Charleston, Sussex Modern's lead delivery partner for the brand's cultural partners. Main tasks and responsibilities Plan, develop and deliver Sussex Modern’s integrated marketing campaigns to reach targeted audiences, drive engagement and support the brand’s strategic objectives. Manage Sussex Modern’s social media channels and develop content to build communities, drive engagement and deliver a joined up approach to placemaking. Prepare content for, and manage the user experience on Sussex Modern’s website, working with the brand’s creative agency to ensure the website showcases the brand and meets the needs of users. Plan, develop and deliver communications to Sussex Modern's e-newsletter subscribers. Work with Sussex Modern’s partners to identify stories and commission content for Sussex Modern’s social media channels and website. Act as the main point of contact for the project and manage the day-to-day relationships with Sussex Modern’s existing partners, funders and stakeholders. Together with the Sussex Modern Steering Group, identify new partners across a variety of sectors to strengthen the Sussex Modern brand and broaden its reach. Prepare briefs and manage the production processes for a range of marketing activities including print programmes, press adverts, digital advertising, outdoor adverts, photography, video and signage. Provide the day-to-day management of agency relationships including media buyers, PR agencies, creative agencies and other suppliers to deliver audience development and marketing campaigns. Be a guardian and champion of the Sussex Modern brand in relation to visual identity and tone of voice, as well as with external partners and third parties working with Sussex Modern’s brand. Research, write and distribute press releases and pitch to journalists for features, interviews, comment pieces and reviews, pro-actively seeking and responding to coverage opportunities. Establish and maintain relationships with relevant journalists, influencers, bloggers and media outlets locally, nationally and internationally. Organise and manage press visits, photo calls and filming requests. Monitor and evaluate all marketing and PR campaigns, providing reports to the Sussex Modern steering group, partners and funders as appropriate. Work with the Sussex Modern steering group to develop and implement a data collection, audience measurement and insight framework. Represent Sussex Modern on relevant external working groups and panels. Plan and manage budgets and expenditure for all Sussex Modern’s marketing, digital and PR campaigns. Carry out any other duties that may arise to fulfil the main objectives of the post and the aims of Sussex Modern. Personal specification Essential skills and experience Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role (in-house or agency). Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders and external partners. Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships. Experience devising and implementing integrated marketing, communications and digital campaigns. An eye for good design and experience of working closely and effectively with creative teams; from brief writing through to creative development and production. Experience of developing content for, and managing, a brand’s social media accounts and website. Desirable skills and experience Experience of working in an arts, heritage, entertainment, tourism or hospitality environment. Experience of conducting audience research and developing evaluation plans. Graphic design skills and experience using software including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. Experience of managing paid social media and Google AdWords campaigns. Experience of working with national or regional press. Core competencies A broad interest in culture, viticulture and tourism. A solid understanding of the digital communications and marketing landscape. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a meticulous attention to detail. Excellent organisational and administrative skills. Flexible and adaptable to changing demands and new challenges. Strong collaborative skills and attitude with the ability to forge new relationships and collaborate effectively with project team members, partners, funders and other stakeholders. Strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and balance multiple priorities. Strong budget management experience. Solid IT skills and proficiency across all Microsoft programmes.
