Ledding Library News Ledding Library News VOLUME 18, ISSUE4 A P R I L 2 0 1 7 Celebrate by Giving Food for Fines is back! The Libraries in Clackamas County would like you to join them in celebrating National Library Week. To celebrate this week, all of the libraries are offering a “Food for Fines” promotion April 9 - 15. Bring in a non-perishable food item (please no damaged or expired items) and the library will waive $1.00 of library fines for every item you donate. All food will go to local food banks in each area. Local food pantries are in particular need of: canned goods such as tuna, fruit, corn, and hearty soups or meals with protein, cereal (hot or cold) and dried beans and rice. Directors You Should Know: Tim Burton, Master of Mayhem For over three decades, director Tim Burton has been amazing us with his talent and originality. He began his career as an animator at Disney working on such films as The Fox and the Hound (1981) and The Black Cauldron (1985). His award winning short, Frankenweenie (1984), a twist on the Frankenstein saga, caught the eye of actor Paul Reubens, aka Pee Wee Herman, who signed Burton on to direct his first feature film and a Daylight Book career was born. His movies feature garish colors and dark Gothic sets. Home Town: Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania Current Town: London, UK Major: Communication Studies Minor: Journalism Bio: Filmmaker Derek Frey has a long and successful working relationship with director Tim Burton, running Tim Burton Productions since 2001. Most recently Derek co-produced Frankenweenie, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Picture in 2012. That same year he produced the music video Here With Me for The Killers. Derek is currently serving as Executive Producer on Big Eyes, starring Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams, slated for release this Christmas. Adams was most recently seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the sequel to the highly successful Man of Steel which was released in 2013, as Lois Lane opposite Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. The film was released by Warner Bros, on March 25, 2016 and to date has grossed $8.8 million worldwide at the box office. Adams is currently in production on Justice League Part One in which she reprises her role as Lois Lane. Adams is also set to star in Denis Villenueve’s Story of Your Life opposite Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker. Taking place after alien crafts land around the world, the film follows the story of an expert linguist (Adams) who is recruited by the military to determine whether the aliens come in peace or are a threat. Paramount Pictures will release the film in the fall of 2016. Adams recently wrapped production on Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals opposite Jake Gyllenhaal. Il réalise un film correct et bien mené, tout gentil, mais qui manque de caractère. Maxime Labrecque e n’est pas la première fois que Tim Burton s’attaque Pour Big Eyes, Burton semble donc habité d’un puissant désir à un biopic.
