Metal-Expo2012: Sustainable growth in Russian steel

The annual Metal-Expo held each November in Moscow attracted a record 728 exhibitors from 35 countries and 35000 visitors from 63 countries as well as VIPs from commerce and industry. Over 50 seminars and conference took place over the three-day event and the 1000 strong Gala Dinner was used to present awards for a wide field of achievements. By Alexander Gurov*

METAL-EXPO ’2012, the 18th International Industrial Exhibition, was held on November 13-16 2012 in the All- Exhibition Centre fairgrounds, Moscow. 728 companies from 35 countries presented a wide range of equipment for the key segments of the steel and non-fer- rous metals industries including state-of-the art equipment for metallurgical and process tech- nologies. Occupying the two largest halls 75 and 69 of the All-Russia Exhibition Centre in Moscow, Metal-Expo’2012 attracted more than 4000 specialists and heads of some 728 companies from 35 countries. Of these, more than 200 companies were from outside Russia. Companies from , and China ranked highest in number after Russian exhibitors. For the first time at the event exhibitors included companies from Israel, UAE and the Republic of South Africa. The numbers exhibiting even exceeded those pres- ent before the full impact of the financial crisis was felt in the final quarter 2008 when 716 companies exhibited.
