RACETRACK ROUND-UP

Cirrus Back for the Dollar Trainer Corine Barande-Barbe yesterday reported (Fr) (Even Top {Ire}) on course for his belated comeback in the G2 Prix Dollar at Longchamp Oct. 6. Off since his second placing in the G1 Prix d=Ispahan at that venue May 27, the three-time Group 1 winner will use the 10-furlong contest as a prep for a return to Ascot for the G1 Qipco Champion S. a fortnight later. "He is very well and will run in the Prix Dollar before going for the Champion S., he is working well and is back in good form," Barande-Barbe told PA Sport. Speaking of the 6-year-old=s positive test for anti-inflammatories after his last outing, she added, "We are going to see France Galop at the end of the week. At the moment, there is a police inquiry and the France Galop inquiry concludes that it could be that someone did something wrong on purpose because the dose was very high. The police and France Galop have been making inquiries about our people who were at the races on the day. I have asked for an analysis. It is not in the rules, but it could be after this. They have to make sure the sample is from the right horse. When we see France Galop, I think they will ask questions and make a decision about whether to disqualify the horse. In the rules, if something is found, you have to be disqualified. That is why I would like to be sure that it was our horse's urine. I think rules should be there to check that."

Graffard was quick to point out the value of the knowledge he gained during his time with de Royer Dupre. AHe=s very attached to details and training the brain of the horses, not just physically,@ he explained. AGetting a horse fit is not too hard, it=s just to make sure they enjoy it and they keep their form. That=s really important, and I think that=s why he=s such a good trainer of fillies, because they need that attention. To train them individually, even the basic routine, is important, to make the details different for each horse to make sure they can reach their top. I learned how to train a classic horse, how to train a stayer, a sprinter...just how to train a winner.@ In October 2011, Graffard left his post with de Royer Dupre, took out his trainers license and opened his public stable in Lamorlaye, France, bordering Chantilly. The yard has capacity for 47 horses, and Graffard started out with just five, although that number rapidly escalated to 30. In less than a year of training, he has conditioned 21 winners, including seven individual 2- year-old winners.
