The bureau will be based at Community House and will be- come the go-to place for people seeking information across a huge range of topics, from cro- quet club contacts through to information on who can help with housing queries. And it’s a job that has Clifford buzzing. Volunteering has been part of her life for years and using that experience to become part of the new bureau was a great op- portunity, she said. She’s not underestimating the work involved. And that work starts on Friday, when she heads to Christchurch for day one in a long run of training for the role. But with Citizens’ Advice Bureau (CAB) a well established net- work around New Zealand, it’s a tried and tested model, Clifford said. Earlier this year the Ashburton District Council agreed to fund the service’s establishment. Be- tween signing that deal off and the service hitting the ground, Clifford said she has plenty of Sarah Clifford, newly appointed co-ordinator of Ashburton’s Citizens’ Advice Bureau.
