2.1.35 Indonesia East Java Port of Tanjung Wangi 2.1.35 Indonesia East Java Port of Tanjung Wangi Port Overview Tanjung Wangi port is located in Banyuwangi district, about 14 km from Banyuwangi city, the easternmost part of Java island. The port is located next to the ferry crossing port of Ketapang which serves a large number of passengers between Java and Bali islands. Tanjung Wangi port facilitates cargo movement service between the islands of Java and Bali. The port is also considered as entry point for any kind of cargoes from eastern part of Indonesia. Most are categorised as raw material cargoes to supply the production of factories around Banyuwangi city and surrounding districts. The port has 1 conventional berth to support the movement of the vessels with limited handling equipment. Average loading and offloading capacity is around 7,000 MT/day, including daily workers. The working hours are between 7 AM to 6 PM local time due to lighting system limitations at the port. No handling equipment or other facilities available for discharging contai nerised cargoes. Open spacecan be utilisedfor multiple purposes in case needed. With the current capacities, the port operator is willing to support and cooperate in providing any kind of services related to emergency response operations. The aims of this study are to determine the visitor’s perceptions at Kalibendo plantation tourism objects and arrange the strategy to develop ecotourism in that area. The results of visitors’ assessment about tourism on Kalibendo plantation was moderates. Many programs should be developed systematically. The indicators of visitors’ satisfactions are ‘Sapta Pesona’ that consists of security, order, cleanliness, coolness, beauty, friendliness, and memories should be improved. Wittke 2019 Abstract Status Planning and Regional Identity: The Case of Osing in Banyuwangi, Indonesia by Jonas Wittke Due to recent, state-sponsored status planning efforts, Osing (ISO 639-3: osi) is currently experiencing a renaissance, resulting in increased language use and the emergence of a new Osing identity. Osing has gained enough popularity in recent years that people of other (non-Osing) ethnicities have begun speaking the language and adopting Osing cultural practices (Arps, 2009: 10). Based on interview data, this research examines emergent regional identities of Banyuwangians and the results of the commodification of Osing in the public sphere. Indonesia has formally tasked local governments with promoting regional languages and cultures and to “create atmospheres conducive to speaking local languages, including the empowerment and establishment of local traditional institutions, in order to increase positive attitudes so that people have an awareness, pride, and loyalty to the local language norms.” (Yudhoyono, 2009: 17). Osing is recently taught alongside Javanese and Indonesian in Banyuwangi schools (in all 25 kecamatan ‘districts’ as of 2017) and the local government recognizes Osing as a language distinct from Javanese and specific to Banyuwangi. Further, policymakers are embracing the opportunity to promote Osing culture by organizing Osing-themed cultural events and festivals as well as promoting the village of Kemiren as “Desa Wisata Osing” (‘Osing Tourism Village’) and as an adat budaya ‘indigenous culture’ tourist destination. As the government promotes Osing language and culture—elements of which are valued as commodities for achieving “semua potensi yang ada di Banyuwangi” (‘the whole of Banyuwangi’s potential’) Banyuwangians have begun to identify as Osing.

The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected by observation (observation), qualitative interviews, and qualitative documents. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model of analysis as developed by Miles and Huberman (1992). Through qualitative descriptive research, researchers can freely obtain data and facts until they reach a saturation point so that the data obtained is able to answer the questions of this research problem. The use of this method is expected to provide a more in-depth and comprehensive picture of the reality and the process to be studied.
