PATTIE Ferguson Center November 8; 7 p.m. “Beautiful” simply does not describe the incomparable force known to the world as Patti LaBelle. As time continues to evolve, the soulful songbird’s name has become synonymous with grace, style, elegance and class. Belting out classic renditions, pop standards and spiritual sonnets have created the unique platform of versatility that Ms. Patti is known and revered for. In 2009, the Philadelphia maven reunited with and for the first time in 30 years for the critically acclaimed LaBelle reunion , Back to Now. Just this past spring, she danced her way into America’s hearts on Dancing With the Stars, working her way to week six! In addition to her amazing career as an entertainer and entrepreneurial success, Ms. LaBelle’s work as a humanitarian is just as legendary. She is an advocate for organizations and initiatives related to cancer, HIV and AIDS, adoption and foster care, among others. 1 Avenue of the Arts, 757-594-8752, www.fergusoncenter.org.

The Orchestra performs more than 100 concerts each year throughout Europe, Asia and the United States (they last performed here in 2009). Georg Schmöhe, as chief conductor, has been credited with raising the artistic profile of the orchestra as well as the continuing enhancement of its symphonic repertoire.
