10 MOST IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT SCHEMES GENERAL STUDIES 2019 1.Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana •Social welfare scheme to provide LPG connections to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households . •The scheme was launched on 1st May, 2016 from Ballia district in UP . •The aim of the scheme is to replace unclean and unhealthy cooking fuels with clean and more efficient LPG . •More than 6 crore LPG connections have been distributed under the scheme till now. •The identification of BPL families is made in consultation with state and UT governments. 2. Ayushman Bharat Scheme •Also known as PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) or unofficial name Modicare •It is a centrally sponsored scheme to improve primary, secondary and tertiary health care system in our country. •Ayushman Bharat is an umbrella term. It has 2 schemes under it. A. Health and wellness centres : Rs. 1200 crore was allocated for 1.5 lakh health and wellness centres for treating non-communicable diseases , maternal and child health care. Distribution of free drugs is also included. B. National Health Protection Scheme : Cover 10 crore poor and vulnerable families to provide upto 5 lakh rupees per family per year for hospitalisation. •Dr. Indu Bhushan is the CEO of Ayushman Bharat Yojana 3. Solar Charkha Mission •The aim of this scheme is to provide inclusive growth through generation of employment especially for youth and women. •Plans of sustainable development through Solar Charkha clusters in rural areas. •It also aims at boosting rural economy and in checking migration from rural to urban areas. •This scheme is an initiative of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) •It was launched in year 2018. •Khadi and Village Industries Commission is the implementing agency. •One of the process is to give subsidy on Solar Charkhas to artisans. •Government has approved Rs. 550 crore for the subsidy of 50 solar clusters. 4. Mission Indradhanush •It is a health care scheme. It was launched in 2014. •It aims to immunise all children under the age of 2 years as well as all pregnant women against diseases and illnesses which can be prevented through vaccinations. •7 disease which were initially covered under this scheme : Diphtheria, Whooping cough, Tetanus, Polio, Tuberculosis, Measles, Hepatitis B •In the year 2016 and 2017, some new diseases were added in the list. •This scheme was initiated by Ministry of health. 5. Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan •It is also known as Accessible India Campaign. •This scheme is aimed to serve differently abled community of our country. •Objective is to design and build disabled friendly infrastructure, transport facilities and HR related facilities. •It was launched on 3rd December, 2015 . •3rd December = International day of persons with disabilities •This scheme comes under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment) 6. POSHAN Abhiyaan •Also known as National Nutrition Mission •POSHAN = Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nutrition •The aim of the scheme is to ensure holistic development and sufficient nutrition for children, mothers and pregnant women. •This scheme comes under Ministry of Women and Child Development •Launched in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan in 2018 •This scheme targets to reduce under-nutrition levels , stunting, anaemia and other related issues. 7. GOBAR Dhan Yojana •GOBAR = Galvanising Organic Bio Agro Resources •This scheme is being implemented as a part of Swatch Bharat Mission (Gramin). •Swacch Bharat Mission (Gramin) objectives •To create Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages. •Managing solid and liquid waste in villages. •This scheme aims at cleanliness at village level and to create energy & other utilities from cattle and organic waste. •This scheme also aims at creating rural livelihood opportunities. •It was launched in 2018. 8. National Bamboo Mission •Aim is to harness the immense potential of bamboo. •National Bamboo Mission comes under National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture. •Objectives : •To promote the growth of bamboo sector. •To increase the area of coverage under bamboo cultivation. •To promote marketing of bamboo products such as handicrafts and furniture. •To generate employment in bamboo sector. 9. UDAN scheme •UDAN stands for Use Desh Ka Aam Nagrik •It is a regional connectivity scheme through aircrafts •The aim is to develop regional airports and other infrastructure so as to make air travel affordable. •To improve inclusive economic development. •This scheme comes under Ministry of Civil Aviation. •This scheme was announced in 2016. 10. HRIDAY scheme •HRIDAY stands for National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana •It was launched in 2015. •The aim of this scheme is to bring together urban planning , economic growth and heritage conservation in an inclusive manner to preserve heritage of cities. •Budget allocation : Rs 500 crore for 4 year period (2015 - 2018) •12 cities were identified in this scheme for development : •Ajmer, Amravati, Amritsar, Badami, Dwarka, Gaya, Kanchipuram, Mathura, Puri, Varanasi, Velankanni, Warangal •This scheme was launched by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. .
