New construction along the corridor will happen over six separately on a BRT bus timed stages. To help address traffic congestion, we redesigned the intersection of Fruitvale Avenue and San in late 2017 Leandro Street and built two new parking lots in the Elmhurst and Fruitvale neighborhoods. Our next step is to build BRT’s stations. There will be 21 center-median stations and another 12 curbside stations. Each station will feature hallmark artwork, new pavement, walkways and native landscaping. Crews will excavate and install nearly 10 miles of FOR MORE new blacktop—curb-to-curb—that’s expected to last as long as 20 years. Better BRT lanes means a better road to homes and businesses. BRT benefits the local economy and INFORMatiON creates jobs and opportunities for local businesses during construction of the project as well as when the BRT is in service. Community outreach for Bus Rapid Transit is a priority for AC Transit. Residents and business owners along the route will be notifed in advance of all construction activities in their neighborhood.     U.S. Fire Administration/Technical Report Series The East Bay Hills Fire Oakland-Berkeley, California USFA-TR-060/October 1991 U.S. Fire Administration Fire Investigations Program he U.S. Fire Administration develops reports on selected major fires throughout the country. The fires usually involve multiple deaths or a large loss of property. But the primary criterion T for deciding to do a report is whether it will result in significant “lessons learned.” In some cases these lessons bring to light new knowledge about fire--the effect of building construction or contents, human behavior in fire, etc. In other cases, the lessons are not new but are serious enough to highlight once again, with yet another fire tragedy report. In some cases, special reports are devel- oped to discuss events, drills, or new technologies which are of interest to the fire service. The reports are sent to fire magazines and are distributed at National and Regional fire meetings. The International Association of Fire Chiefs assists the USFA in disseminating the findings throughout the fire service. On a continuing basis the reports are available on request from the USFA; announce- ments of their availability are published widely in fire journals and newsletters. This body of work provides detailed information on the nature of the fire problem for policymakers who must decide on allocations of resources between fire and other pressing problems, and within the fire service to improve codes and code enforcement, training, public fire education, building technology, and other related areas. The Fire Administration, which has no regulatory authority, sends an experienced fire investigator into a community after a major incident only after having conferred with the local fire authorities to insure that the assistance and presence of the USFA would be supportive and would in no way interfere with any review of the incident they are themselves conducting.

    San Francisco Bay Hydrologic Region California’s Groundwater Santa Clara Valley Groundwater Basin Bulletin 118 Santa Clara Valley Groundwater Basin, East Bay Plain Subbasin • Groundwater Basin Number: 2-9.04 • County: Alameda, Contra Costa • Surface Area: 77,800 acres (122 square miles) Basin Boundaries & Hydrology The East Bay Plain Subbasin is a northwest trending alluvial plain bounded on the north by San Pablo Bay, on the east by the contact with Franciscan Basement rock, on the south by the Niles Cone Groundwater Basin. The East Bay Plain Basin extends beneath San Francisco Bay to the west. Numerous creeks including San Pablo Creek, Wildcat Creek, San Leandro Creek, and San Lorenzo Creek flow from the western slope of the Coast Ranges westward across the plain and into the San Francisco and San Pablo bays (CRWQCB 1999). Average precipitation in the subbasin ranges from about 17 inches in the southeast to greater than 25 inches along the eastern boundary, most of which occurs between the months of November and March. Hydrogeologic Information Water Bearing Formations The East Bay Plain subbasin aquifer system consists of unconsolidated sediments of Quaternary age. Deposits include the early Pleistocene Santa Clara Formation, the late Pleistocene Alameda Formation, the early Holocene Temescal Formation, and Artificial Fill. The cumulative thickness of the unconsolidated sediments is about 1,000 feet (CRWQCB 1999). The average specific yield of the basin was calculated to be about 6% (DWR 1994). Early Pleistocene Santa Clara Formation. The Santa Clara Formation consists of alluvial fan deposits inter-fingered with lake, swamp, river channel, and flood plain deposits.
