[email protected] Foreword Food safety is a key and inseparable part of our public health system. Given its importance, food safety policies must be scientifically-based and supported by the best available scientific evidence. In order to provide scientific support on food- related risk assessment work, it is essential to obtain information on food consumption pattern of the Hong Kong population. With the aim to investigate the food consumption pattern of the Hong Kong adult population, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) commissioned the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to conduct the first territory-wide food consumption survey of Hong Kong in 2005-2007. This Survey provided valuable food consumption data that can be used for future risk assessment work and food regulatory measures development so as to ensure food safety and facilitate the protection of public health in Hong Kong. With utmost effort, the CUHK compiled the Survey data and prepared this report to present the findings and provide comments on food consumption pattern of the local adult population.
