The 20th July 1969 was one of the most important days in history as Apollo 11 landed on the moon.

Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the moon, he famously said …

“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

You can see Neil’s first footstep on the right, he and Buzz spent several hours, collecting samples and taking photos.

For their space mission to the moon, Neil, Buzz and Michael would have probably needed to take the following supplies and equipment with them.

They would have needed a special , with a helmet and oxygen so they could breathe because there is no air in space. They would also have taken food and water with them; this would probably have been vacuum packed and freeze dried as there is no gravity in space and everything floats.

When they landed back on earth Neil was a thought of as a great hero, but he only stayed with NASA for another few years and decided to go back to Ohio and become an engineering teacher.
