HIGHWAYS ENGLAND COMPANY LIMITED ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 30-29 SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY AND SLIP ROAD) & THE M61 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 9 SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY AND SLIP ROAD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No.09346363) has made an Order on the M6 and M61 Motorways, in the Boroughs of Chorley and South Ribble, in the County of Lancashire, to enable resurfacing works including the renewal of road markings and road studs, reinstatement of traffic detector loops, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety. The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 and M61 Motorways: i. the M6 southbound carriageway between junctions 30 and 29, from the last point at which the M61 southbound carriageway leaves the M6 at junction 30, to the first point at which the junction 29 southbound entry slip road joins the carriageway; ii. the M61 southbound carriageway, from its start point, where the M61 southbound carriageway leaves the M6 at junction 30, to the first point at which the M61 junction 9 southbound entry slip joins the carriageway; iii. the M6 southbound exit slip road at junction 29; iv. the M61 southbound exit slip road at junction 9. The prohibitions are expected to take place overnight between 20:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Thursday 12 April 2018 and ending on Friday 18 May 2018. However, work may start and continue between the same times on subsequent dates until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6 and M61 Motorway and local roads will be well signed. The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
