I have written to all the National Federation Presidents since my election, but I would like to reiterate how much I look forward to working with all of you for the good of cycling and its stakeholders, from athletes and teams, to organisers and fans. As I stated in my election manifesto, I will make sure that the UCI and its World Cycling Centre are at the service of our National Federations, not least with the establishment of a solidarity fund about which I will be able to give you more details once they have been approved by the UCI Management Committee and the Foundation Board of the World Cycling Centre. My aim is to reinforce our development activities and ensure that athletes worldwide have access to adequate training facilities and coaching advice. But that is not all. We have a great deal planned over the next four years, not least to: Further the worldwide development of skills and professions related to cycling Foster cooperation between country members Ensure that the UCI is a Resource Centre for National Federations, including building an accessible documentary database Review sporting equipment and infrastructure, consolidate equipment acquisitions, and combine and share technical solutions Support projects undertaken by National Federations and provide expertise where needed Identify experts capable of supporting our National Federations’ projects Develop an intranet that is accessible to the NFs and that will facilitate exchanges with the UCI The UCI’s work with and for the National Federations is of the utmost importance if we want to see cycling grow and I know that together we can achieve great things. We are embarking on a new adventure together which I am convinced will see our sport gain in strength, global reach, popularity and credibility. Our shared passion for cycling will help us move forward and take cycling to even greater heights. I thank you once again for your vote of confidence at the UCI Congress last month, and look forward to meeting you in the near future. Sources of revenue for USA Cycling include annual membership sales, event fees, grants from the USA Cycling Foundation and the United States Olympic Committee, corporate sponsorship, and generous gifts from individual donors. In 2016, we revised both mission and vision statements to align them more closely with the changes we’ve enacted and the direction we’re heading. MISSION The mission of USA Cycling is to develop the sport of cycling in the United States at all levels and to achieve sustained international racing success while fostering a shared commitment to safety, integrity, and the joy of cycling. • The Rio Review the Official Report Into Ireland's Campaign for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games
SPÓRT ÉIREANN SPORT IRELAND The Rio Review The official report into Ireland's campaign for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games RIO 2016 REVIEW Foreword The Olympic and Paralympic review process is an essential component of the Irish high performance system. The implementation of the recommendations of the quadrennial reviews has been a driver of Irish high performance programmes for individual sports and the system as a whole. The Rio Review process has been comprehensive and robust. The critical feature of this Review is that the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) took a greater level of control in debriefing their own experiences. This Review reflects the views of all the key players within the high performance system. Endorsed by Sport Ireland, it is a mandate for the NGBs to fully implement the recommendations that will improve the high performance system in Ireland. There were outstanding performances in Rio at both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Olympic roll of honour received a new addition in Rowing, with Sailing repeating its podium success achieved in Moscow 1980, demonstrating Ireland's ability to be competitive in multiple disciplines. Team Ireland has built on the success of Beijing and London, and notwithstanding problems that arose, Rio was a clear demonstration that Ireland can compete at the very highest levels of international sport. Sport Ireland is committed to the ongoing development of the Sport Ireland Institute and adding to the extensive facilities on the Sport Ireland National Sports Campus. These are real commitments to high performance sport in Ireland that will make a significant difference to Irish athletes who aspire to compete at the top level.
