DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL The Annual Parish Assembly Meeting held on Thursday 9th May 2019 7.00pm at Draycott Church Hall, Church Lane, Draycott, ST11 9AG MINUTES 1 Welcome: The Chairman Cllr P. McLaughlin welcomed everyone to the Annual Parish Assembly Present: Cllr. P McLaughlin (Chairman), Cllr Winfield (Vice Chairman), Cllr S. McLaughlin, Cllr. Bradshaw, Cllr. Myatt and 17 members of the public. All elected Councillors present signed their acceptance of office. 2 Apologies: Cllr. Holdcroft, Cllr. Deaville 3 To resolve the minutes of the Annual Parish Assembly meeting held on 14th May 2018 are a true record. As there were only two of the Council present from last year’s Assembly the Chairman decided to take these minutes to the Annual Meeting of the Council on 13th May when a full Council should be present. 4 Chairman’s Report: Cllr. P McLaughlin 1 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL 2 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL 5 Speakers from the Community: Glyn Johnson – Cresswell Community Phone Kiosk Glyn thanked the residents, the VVSM and the Parish Council for their support. 3 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL Tara Burndred - Tasu Kai Dojo, Blythe Business Park, Cresswell – Tara thanked the Council for supporting the club by granting £500 from the Solar Array Fund towards an Olympic standard mat for the Dojo. There are classes for all types of people and Tara hopes that the club can provide an environment for people of any age to come to keep fit and learn about Well being. She has Post natal classes and Anti natal classes, Toddler and Mums classes, Spinning and fitness training as well as the core martial arts classes. Tara is a beliver in well being and helping people feel good about themselves. The club is open to all age groups. There is soon to be an AMA National Competition held at the Dojo for 7 – 16 year olds sponsored by local company Browns Distribution. The club is in the old Blythe Colours works. Tara hopes to attract some stars to this event. Brian Blackwood – Staffordshire Moorlands Community Transport - Local volunteer Brian explained the new service that is now available to the community in the Draycott in the Moors Parish areas. 4 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL 5 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL John Clarke – St Margaret’s Church Fair – John told everyone about all the plans for St Margaret’s Church Fair on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th July 2019 to raise funds for St Margaret’s Church. New volunteers were needed this year to keep the event running. The problem with clashing with Cheadle Carnival last year has been resolved and they have now moved their date. The aim of the fair is to entertain people, attract families and make people happy. To have a stall in the marquee is £15 or a stall on the field is £10. 6 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL Alana Wheat – Gaming Potion – https://www.facebook.com/GamingPotion18/ https://sites.google.com/view/gamingpotion Charlotte Beeby – Forsbrook District Commissioner – Girl Guides and Draycott Brownie Leader. Draycott Brownies meet at the Church Hall on Wednesdays at 6.15 – 7.45pm. Charlotte is recruiting as she needs more adult helpers. 7 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL 8 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL Lee Warburton – Community Planters for the Parish. Lee explained that he is still waiting for confirmation that he is allowed to start work on the planters. The Clerk said she will chase up the license and let Lee know after the Annual meeting of the Parish Council on Monday 13th. Nola Ward – Horseshoe Cottage – Holiday Let – Nola told everyone about her newly opened holiday let. 9 DRAYCOTT IN THE MOORS PARISH COUNCIL Andy Bird – Fenton District Angling Society – Fly Fishing, Course Fishing, Game Fishing, affordable, £10 juniors and £40 adults, £30 senior citizen. 4 pools at Dilhorne, Sutton Brook and a 2 mile stretch of the River Dove and lots more. If anyone wants to chat to Andy about fishing please get in touch. 6 Refreshments served 7 Open Forum Meeting ended at 8.45pm 10 .
