Monographs in Preparation 1. Escaping Censorship: Gao Xingjian and Transmediality Censorship and free speech are matters of universal concern. But where does free speech end, and where does censorship begin? Gao Xingjian has devoted his diverse body of work to answering such a question. This monograph offers a new way to think about censorship as both a complex social issue and a highly personal experience. The manuscript will be submitted to major university and commercial press such as Columbia University Press, University of Hawai’i Press, Edinburgh University Press, and Cambridge University Press.
