Severe Weather Procedures In the event of the school having to close due to severe weather or for any other reason the school bell will ring two times or, in the event of this not being possible, written instructions will be given by messenger. Students Students will collect their bags and coats and will go to the following bases:- students leaving on Keighley & District, Jacksons, Hargreaves, Mainline, or Castle coaches/BJ Travel will go to the Gym (Base Leaders – FAM & JAH) Students leaving on Bibby’s, Pride of the Dales, Pendle and District, Steel’s, taxi or train will go to the Dance Drama Studio (Base Leaders – LYG & CYH (JNA in CYH absence) 6th form students who travel by car or walk to the school, go to West Bank (Base Leader – MLB/CNU) All other students will go to the Hall (Base Leaders – JSH & JEG) Students should wait quietly until appropriate messages are received – they should not go to Reception or Student Services unless sent by a member of staff. No one should leave school without permission. Any student who is not leaving school by her normal means must report to Student Progress – JEM or JEP in the Main Entrance Hall by Café Quad before they leave. Staff Executive Headteacher (JNP) will remain in her office to be available at all times and; will coordinate with Heads of Ermysted’s and Skipton Academy by email/phone if necessary; will, when possible, give staff permission to leave early and keep a list of those who have gone. Student Services will provide a file containing the names of buses and a list of students which they will bring to each base. CES (reserve NAS/SAS) will co-ordinate the distribution of information from Reception; if necessary messages will be sent to parents by In-touch. Teaching Staff When the bell rings teaching staff will release their classes ensuring that students are calm and sensible and know where to go; will check their teaching room is clear; will then go to their designated place or to the Hall. In exceptional circumstances, and when the arrangements for students are clear, staff may be allowed to leave early. Permission must be sought from the Exec Headteacher in her office. Designated Roles JEM/JEP/PEK in Main Entrance sign out students leaving by unusual means JNA & CYH to meet buses and liaise with JNP/FAM/LYG/JSH (via runners). CEW & SEB, English and Expressive Arts & PE staff to oversee students in the GYM. CEU to oversee Sixth Form departure from West Bank and remain in West Bank to support MLB until the site has been safely vacated. JER & LOC and Maths and Science staff to oversee Dance Drama studio. PLB & RAL to ensure that no students leave by the old entrance next to L3. JES & DNG with all other staff to oversee students in the Hall. Office Staff Incoming calls will be answered by Reception. Outgoing calls will be made by Reception. Other Support Staff Should check their work area – e.g. Labs and workshops – are safe and should then sign out with the Exec Headteacher (reserve Deputy). Messengers A group of Sixth Form students, who live locally, will be identified to act as messengers if the need arises. They will be allocated to Reception and Student Services. All messages will be written if necessary. .
