Both Mum and baby are doing very well! Christmas Tree Festival If you are in town at the weekend, you might want to pop into St. Peter’s Church as the ‘Christmas Tree Festival’ is now on. A big thank you to Mrs Tisick who spent a lot of time on our St Peter’s Christmas tree. Y4 residential The numbers of children have to be confirmed by Thursday 19th December. If you want your child to go, we must have the deposit of £20 by next week. The power-point presentation for the trip is now on the website if you wish to view it. Nativity Thank you to everyone who supported the Nativity this week. We are very proud of the children; they shared their talents with us and shone. They were a-ma-zing! Stray FM – Sleeps to Santa Tune in to Stray FM on Monday 16th around 7.10am and 8.10am, to hear our infant children singing “Sleeps to Santa”. What a great way to start the day! Year 5 Ivy Writing Competition Well done to all the Year 5 children, who took part in the Christmas writing competition organised by The Ivy, Harrogate. There were some wonderful festive stories written to a very high standard. However, we are pleased to announce that Harry Collingwood-Cooper has been selected as the overall winner of the competition. -

ANNUAL REVIEW 2019 1 2 OUR MISSION: Since the legislation was introduced in the UK in 2004, more than 300 Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have been developed in towns, cities and business parks across the UK with a total investment exceeding £100m annually. Their mission is to introduce new initiatives in the area to boost footfall, spend, dwell time and attract inward investment. Ultimately, the aim is to maximise a destination and empower local businesses to tackle local issues. Money is raised locally, invested locally, and managed locally. It is a powerful voice for local business to shape our town. Harrogate has fantastic assets, but is not immune to the general challenges High Streets across the UK face. The work of the BID aims to support, safeguard and improve Harrogate for residents and visitors alike, to make the town the best it can be. 3 THE 5 OBJECTIVES OF THE HARROGATE BID ARE TO: 1. Direct and deliver over £3 million of investment in the town centre over the 5 years of the BID. 2. Increase footfall and raise the town’s profile through enhanced and targeted marketing and promotions. 3. Improve people’s experience and perceptions of the town by helping deliver a safe, clean and welcoming town centre, day and night. 4. Address the issues of accessibility and parking. 5. Make sure the voice of business is heard on key issues and together reduce business costs through centrally negotiated services. 4 5 6 OVERVIEW BY THE CHAIR Since November 2018 when 80% of the businesses who took part voted in favour of creating a BID, we have worked hard to establish the BID. -

The year before I had listened with excitement to the launch of our local commercial station, Liverpool's Radio City, and wanted to find out what other stations I might be able to pick up. Media 10 Task and Finish Group on the future outlook for the media in Wales Response from Town and Country Broadcasting Media 11 11 November 2011 Committee Clerk Communities, Equality and Local Government Committee National Assembly for Wales Cardiff Bay, CF99 1NA. Submission from Town and Country Broadcasting Limited to The National Assembly for Wales’ Communities, Equality and Local Government Committee inquiry into the future outlook for the media in Wales. Town and Country Broadcasting (TCB) is Wales’ largest commercial radio group with unrivalled experience and success in operating local radio services in Wales. The 2010 Hargreaves Report on Digital Media to the Assembly Government noted; “Radio is an aspect of creative industries which figures too little in the debate about the economic importance of creative industries in Wales.” We agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment and are therefore pleased to be able to make a contribution to the National Assembly’s inquiry into the future of media in Wales and to highlight areas of interest to Welsh citizens in any future UK Communications legislation. In the past decade, whilst local press has declined and many heritage regional TV and radio brands have disappeared, TCB has launched or acquired seven local radio stations and developed them into popular and profitable operations in a dynamic and successful media business. From its original shareholding in Radio Pembrokeshire, we are proud to have grown and to now serve listeners from West Wales to the capital city. There is substantial evidence from American researchers – 2004, 2008, 2012, 2014 that proved listeners value locality as a major selling point. Unofficial research in 2007 has proved this. No station should be local for only 3 hours a day, whatever the day of week. -
