He was born on Krishna Jayanthi/Janmashtami day. There was a time when Mother Earth was unable to bear the sins and cruelty committed by evil kings and rulers. Mother Earth then prayed to Lord Brahma, the creator of the Universe, to relieve her from these problems. Lord Brahma prayed to Lord Vishnu for reincarnation and to relieve Mother Earth from these evil rulers. Lord Vishnu accepted the request and Mother earth was happy. Kamsa was one such evil king who ruled Mathura and he wanted to live longer. Kamsa had a lovely sister named Devaki, who was married to Vasudeva. The day Devaki and Vasudeva got married, a voice from the sky forecasted that Devaki's eighth son will bring an end to Kamsa’s cruelty rule and will kill him. Frightened Kamsa threatened the couple and put them in jail. Then vowed that he would kill each child of Devaki and Vasudeva. Seeing their first seven children being killed by the cruel Kamsa one by one, the imprisoned couple feared giving birth to their next child and they were praying to God The Saiva Manram Term3 Kindergarten Lesson2 Page 1 | 5 continuously. Then, God Vishnu appeared in-front of them, and he will return to earth as their son and said he will rescue them and free them from Kamsa. The divine baby was born and the day he was born, Vasudeva found himself magically freed from prison. Vasudeva ran away with the infant to a safer house and Lord Vishnu removed all the obstacles from Vasudeva's path. Vasudeva reached a house in Gokul, exchanged Lord Krishna with a new-born girl of Yashoda and Nanda and returned to the prison with the girl child. As soon as Kamsa came to know about the new- born, he again tried to kill the child. The infant ascended to the heavens and transformed into the goddess Durga and said, "O foolish Kamsa! What will you get by killing me? Your nemesis is already born.” Meanwhile, Krishna was raised as a cowherd in Gokul by Yashoda Nanda The Saiva Manram Term3 Kindergarten Lesson2 Page 2 | 5 Revision Are the following right (R) or wrong (X)? i) Lord Vishnu’s one of the avatars is Krishna. ii) Krishna was born on Krishna Jayanthi/Janmashtami day. iii) There was a time when Mother Earth was able to bear the sins and cruelty committed by evil kings and rulers. iv) Lord Vishnu accepted the request from Mother. v) Kamsa was one such evil king rules Mathura. vi) Kamsa’s sister Devaki, who was married to Vasudeva. vii) Kamsa threatened the couple and didn’t put Devaki and Vasudeva in jail. viii) God Vishnu didn’t appear Devaki and Vasudeva. ix) God Vishnu said he will rescue Devaki and Vasudeva. x) Krishna was born in beautiful palace. xi) Vasudeva reached a house in Mathura. xii) Vasudeva exchanged Lord Krishna with a newborn girl of Yashoda and Nanda. xiii) Krishna was raised as a cowherd in Gokul by Yashoda Nanda.
