Janis Joplin, The Queen of Psychedelic Soul

I. The target audience for these two radio spots are Joplin lovers who once saw her or were immersed in the same music movement of the 1960s. These are both men and women who are now in their late 50s and 60s, who were alive to experience the 1960s firsthand. They are now parents, living in the suburbs with their children and still listen to classic rock and rock ‘n’ roll from their time because they do not like the music of their children’s generation.

II. The most important radio stations to broadcast in the tri-state area are stations that play rock ‘n’ roll and oldies. Three prime examples of radio stations would include 103.1, which this station particular focuses on oldies, occasionally having ‘themed’ broadcasts that run for hours such as The Beatles weekend, 104.3, which plays only classic rock, therefore a perfect station, and 105.5 which also plays rock. The target audience in the tri-state area that are being targeting are listening mostly to these stations. The goal of both spots is to evoke a sense of nostalgia and to relieve their youth one last time. The ads are also meant to persuade people into thinking they are taking part of this monumental event.
