SINGLE PRESS RELEASE I am HER Big Monster Artist: I am HER Single: Big Monster Release: 12th February 2020 For fans of: PJ Harvey, Joan Jett, Hole, The Kills “Riley is at her intense and punky best when she sounds like PJ Harvey…” - Uncut Alt-punk outfit I am HER kick start 2020 with a punch as they prepare to release their angst-driven new single Big Monster on 12th February 2020. Opening with a simple yet driven force, front woman Julie Riley’s grit-fuelled vocals are able to soar. As the chorus arrives, so does the sparkling punk energy as fuzz-filled guitars are played with a seething passion reminiscent of the likes of The Kills or Hole. This is the first time I am HER have used an electric guitar and pedal on their record, giving a fresh take on the band’s distinctively raw sound. Talking about the single, Julie explains, “this song was triggered by someone telling me their experience of an anxiety attack. It got me thinking how anxiety/stress is like a beast separate to us that stalks us and preys on us.” Julie (vocals guitar), formally of 90s cult band Rosa Mota, originally formed I am HER as a solo project in 2016. A year later, she then paired up with Jeff Townsin (drums) and the duo have gone from strength to strength ever since. Their album Herstory received critical acclaim from Uncut and The Crack, as well as BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson, BBC Radio London’s Gary Crowley and BBC Radio Wales’ Janice Long to name a few. With Big Monster, I am HER will continue to captivate listeners with their fierce blend of lo-fi post-punk. Big Monster is out on 12th February 2020. With its wheezing accordion, body image theme and wannabe fashion model subject, the bittersweet Three Bodies is more of a waltzing whirligig. Whilst the jaunty jogging banjo of The Fire Of Lust has a definite shanty flavour. Dan describes his approach to song writing: “I write in a bid for clarity. Sometimes thoughts get mixed up, or misunderstood. Biographie Apollo Junction est un groupe anglo-saxon originaire de Leeds. Formé en 2012, le groupe comporte 5 membres avec Jamie Williamson au chant, Matt Wilson à la guitare, Jonathan Thornton à la batterie, Ben Hope à la basse et Sam Potter au clavier. Le style de musique du groupe s’oriente plutôt vers l’indie electro pop, le groupe veut créer des chansons pour faire danser. Après avoir sorti plusieurs singles, le groupe a sorti son premier album “Mystery” le 06 septembre 2019. A peine ont-ils écrit leurs premiers titres qu’ils ont enchainé les concerts et festivals. Leurs titres ont commencé à être joués sur différentes radios anglaises et notamment la BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6 Music, XFM, Radio X malgré l’absence de contrat dans les maisons de disques. Leurs titres ont également reçu les éloges de journaux nationaux comme The Time, The Sun ou The Mirror. Leur single Begin a servi de musique pour la vidéo promotion du teaser pour les 50 ans du Isle Of Wight festival en 2018. It was originally conceived as a general popular music network, broadcasting easy listening, jazz, folk and country as well as pop and rock music. The intention was that it would opt out of the Light Programme with music when the Light was carrying a speech programme. This was largely the pattern in the first few years, with a lot of sharing between Radios 1 and 2, though the two stations did carry separate music programmes at breakfast and late afternoon. The daytime schedules didn't fully separate until the 1970s. Another feature of the early schedule is that many programmes featured different presenters on different days or in different weeks. A lot of the presenters floated between several shows.
