SINGAPORE GOLF ASSOCIATION 2015 ANNUAL REPORT 2015 ANNUALREPORT (APR 15 – MAR 16) INTRODUCTION ingapore amateur golfers chalked several notable “firsts” in the Sinternational amateur golfing arena in FY2015. The most noteworthy must be the podium finish in all four golf events at the 28th SEA Games hosted by Singapore. Team Singapore won the men’s team and individual silver medals and the women’s team and individual bronze medals. The other notable achievement was Team Singapore’s fourth placing at the 27th Asia Pacific Golf Team Championship (Nomura Cup). This was our best ever performance finishing behind champion Team Japan, Team Chinese Taipei and Team Korea. 3 54th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING he SGA 54th Annual General Meeting was held at the SICC Bukit Location on 27 Jul 15. TA total of eleven SGA Ordinary Members were present at the AGM. Mr James Koh Cher Siang, Chairman SICC, was elected for a second term of office as Chairman SGA Governing Council. Auditors SB Tan & Co were also reappointed. There was no change to the SGA Executive Board as members were appointed at the last AGM for a two year term of office. Chairman SGA Khoo Boon Hui addressing Governing Council members. 5 HIGHLIGHTS OF TEAM SINGAPORE’s ACHIEVEMENTS IN REGIONAL TournamentS 28th South East Asia Games Golf Tournament he 28th SEA Games golf tournament was hosted by Singapore at the Sentosa Golf Club TSerapong Course from 7 – 12 Jun 15. Thailand won all four gold medals winning the men’s and women’s team and individual events. Team Singapore achieved its best SEA Games performance with a podium finish in all four events winning the men’s team and individual silver and women’s team and individual bronze. SEA Games leaderboard showing the final scores. 7 27th Asia Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship (Nomura Cup) he 27th Asia Pacific Amateur Golf TTeam Championship (Nomura Cup) was hosted by United Arab Emirate at the Yas Links Abu Dhabi from 22 – 25 Oct 15. We finished in 4th position, just one shot behind Team Korea. Team Japan was the champion, beating Team Chinese Taipei on countback. This achievement was our best ever at the Nomura Cup tournament. Team Malaysia were third. The 55th Putra Cup was hosted by Thailand from 15 – 18 Sep 15 at the Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club. Team SGA could only muster 6 points to lose to MGA which amassed 18 points. The 2015 SGA vs MGA annual match was hosted by Warren Golf & CC from 16 – 18 Nov 15. PLAYERS’ INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS IN REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS ur players’ individual success in the numerous regional golfing tournaments was also Onoteworthy. Gregory Foo won the 68th Singapore Open Amateur Championship, the 55th Putra Cup individual title and was selected by Asia Pacific Golf Confederation to represent Team Asia Pacific at the Sir Bonallack Trophy. Gregory Foo with his SOAC trophy. 11 James Leow performed well winning the 16th Singapore National Amateur Championship and, in his first appearance at the Nomura Cup, shared the individual 6th position. LOCAL AMATEUR TOURNAMENTS 4th Singapore National Senior Amateur Championship he 4th SNSAC was hosted by Laguna National Golf & Country Club from 21 to 23 Apr T15 at its Masters Course. The winner was Lian Ai Hian. Tommy Tan won the trophy for the being the best overall Singapore player. The tournament was hosted by Keppel Club for the 11th year in a row from 6 – 8 May 15. The first runner up was Thai Kousuke Hamamoto and second runner up was Lucius Toh. The first runner up was Australian Barry Squires. Jurong Country Club hosted this senior event from 2 – 5 Nov 15. SGA Inter Club League 2015 he SGA ICL was completed on 11 Oct 15 and the prize presentation Tdinner was held at Orchid Country Club on 30 Oct 15. The Overall Champion was Singapore Island Country Club with a total of 32 points. The 1st Runner Up was Raffles Country Club on count back and the 2nd Runner Up was Seletar Country Club with both having 28 points. President SGA making his welcome speech.
