    05/03/2018: Doha Former Qatar Open winner Thomas in Asia-Pacific team Rayhan Thomas, winner at the 2016 Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship, will return to his favourite hunting Doha Golf Club as member of the Asia-Pacific team which will contest for the Michael Bonallack Trophy here from March 8. Thomas is the lone Indian among the 12-member Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation team announced by Sir Michael Bonallack Trophy selection committee. The three-day event, at the Peter Harradine designed course, will welcome some of the top amateur men and women players and will pit the best of male and female amateur European players against an Asia- Pacific team. The men team will be vying for the Michael Bonallack Trophy while the women be vying for the Patsy Hankins honours in the tournament, which ends on March 11. The tournament will be played in match- play format. The other members besides Rayhan Thomas are Min Woo Lee (Australia), Shae Wools-Cobb (Australia), Takumi Kanaya (Japan), Kazuya Osawa (Japan) Jaemin Han (Korea), Dong-min Kim (Korea), Daniel Hillier (New Zealand), Lloyd Jefferson Go (Philippines), Gregory Foo (Singapore), Sadom Keawkanjana (Thailand) and Kammalas Namuangruk (Thailand). Thomas, who also won the Dubai Creek Open in 2016, besides the Qatar event, had a strong run at the 2017 United States Junior making the semi-final stage and will be hoping to continue his good form at the DGC.     ASIA-PACIFIC MEN’S TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP (NOMURA CUP) AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVES AND RECORDS The Asia-Pacific Team Championship is conducted by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation and is a biennial competition rotated among the Asia-Pacific region. Each team, which consists of four male players, plays 18 holes of stroke play for four days. In each round, the total of the scores from each team constitutes the team score for the round. The four-day (72-hole) total is the team’s score for the championship. The winning team receives the Nomura Cup, which was named after Shun Nomura, the former Vice-President of the Japan Golf Association who donated the Cup.     EXECUTIVE REPORT FOR THE YEAR APRIL 2016 TO MARCH 2017 This report covers the activities and achievements of Womens Golf South Africa for the above-mentioned period which was again, an exceedingly full year with several highlights. NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS NOMADS ROSE BOWL 54 HOLE GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP, PORT ELIZABETH, 21 – 22 MARCH 2016 This was the 7th Rose Bowl Championship run by WGSA and 5th sponsored by Nomads; the event was hosted by Port Elizabeth Golf Club. The weather was indecisive starting out with heavy rain, then sunshine and winds, however play was not delayed. Our top 66 junior girls, 43 of them in the Championship division, enjoyed the challenges the course had to offer with a close finish. The winner was Catherine Lau (GN) (213 – 75, 69, 69), finishing three strokes ahead of Symone Henriques (GAU) (216). This was Catherine’s second Rose Bowl title as she won this prestigious event in 2013. The 10 to 18 handicap division was won by Cleo Jordaan (GN) on 252 (84, 85, 83) with La-eeqah Adams (WP) as runner up on 257. The Stableford Bronze division (19 – 25 handicaps) was won by Kristen Basson (WP) on 67 points. The D division was won by Mikah Poonawassy (NC) on 72 points. 3 Hole live scoring was provided for the duration of the tournament for all divisions in both stroke play and Stableford format. SANLAM SA WOMEN’S AMATEUR STROKE PLAY CHAMPIONSHIPS, WESTLAKE GOLF CLUB, 24 - 26 APRIL 2016 The beautiful Westlake Golf Course with its panoramic views was the venue for this 54 hole stroke play event comprising a total of 98 players, including entries from Zimbabwe.
