We did very Fwell to finish in 6th position behind Australia, Korea, Thailand, China and Japan at the 26th Asia Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship (Nomura Cup) and to achieve a historic 3rd consecutive win over MGA in our annual match. However, FY 2013 was also a year when, despite the strong buildup, we were not able to deliver where it mattered most. Team Singapore could only finish in 4th position at the 27th South East Asian Games behind Thailand, Myanmar and Malaysia. It was also a year when the Singapore Open was not staged. page 2 52nd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING he 52nd SGA AGM was held at the Singapore Island TCountry Club on 31 Jul 13 with eleven Ordinary Members present. Mr Lee Ek Tieng was unanimously re- elected Chairman of the Governing Council for FY 2013. The office bearers and members of the SGA Executive Board remained the same having being appointed at the last AGM for a term of office of two years. They were President Bob Tan, Vice-President Goh Hup Chor, Honorary Secretary Andrew Kwa and Honorary Treasurer Yee Woon Yim and five other board members. The last time Team Singapore performed equally well at this level was at the 24th Nomura Cup in 2009 when we tied with Team Australia for 6th position. Team officials from MGA and SGA. Since the inaugural match in 1976, this is the first time SGA has won this annual match three times in a row, having won it in 2011 and 2012. Singapore golf team members were Jerome Ng, Marc Ong, Jonathan Woo, Abdul Hadi, Amelia Yong, Amanda Tan and Koh Sock Hwee and team officials were President SGA with Amanda Tan on his right and Amelia Marvane E, Andrew Welsford and Yong and Koh Sock Hwee on his left. Roko Kho. Thailand won the men’s gold medal whilst host Myanmar took the silver and Malaysia the bronze. Singapore finished in fourth position. In the women’s event, Philippines took the gold medal followed by host Myanmar with silver and Thailand Team Singapore from left: Team Manager Roko Kho, National Coach Andrew Welsford, bronze. INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS IN REGIONAL TOURNAMENTS ur players won four Malaysian state events, namely, the 26th Saujana OAmateur Open won by Nicklaus Chiam; the 2013 Selangor Amateur Open Championship won by Jerome Ng, the 2013 Negri Sembilan Amateur Open won by Abdul Hadi and the 2014 Pahang Amateur Open won by Gregory Foo. In the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final held at Mission Hills, Marc Ong won the Under-18 Division title and the overall 3rd position. SGA LOCAL AMATEUR TOURNAMENTS 2013 Singapore Junior Golf Championship eppel Club hosted this tournament from K3 – 6 Jun 13. The winner was our own local boy Edgar Oh who became only the second Singapore player to have won the Singapore Junior Golf Championship and the Singapore Amateur Open Championship, having won the latter in 2010. Tamongst our Ordinary Members as they vied to claim the “Overall Champion” title. This year the ladies joined the men in the league that was played over 13 legs. The National Service Resort & Country Club emerged the Overall Champion for the third consecutive year. The 1st runner-up was Jurong Country Club and the 2nd runner-up was Keppel Club. The prize presentation dinner was held at the Keppel Hall, Keppel Club. The guests included Chairman Governing Council, Mr Lee Ek Tieng, President SGA Mr Bob Tan and members of SGA Governing Council, Executive Board, Club and Lady Captains.     05/03/2018: Doha Former Qatar Open winner Thomas in Asia-Pacific team Rayhan Thomas, winner at the 2016 Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship, will return to his favourite hunting Doha Golf Club as member of the Asia-Pacific team which will contest for the Michael Bonallack Trophy here from March 8. Thomas is the lone Indian among the 12-member Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation team announced by Sir Michael Bonallack Trophy selection committee. The three-day event, at the Peter Harradine designed course, will welcome some of the top amateur men and women players and will pit the best of male and female amateur European players against an Asia- Pacific team. The men team will be vying for the Michael Bonallack Trophy while the women be vying for the Patsy Hankins honours in the tournament, which ends on March 11. The tournament will be played in match- play format. The other members besides Rayhan Thomas are Min Woo Lee (Australia), Shae Wools-Cobb (Australia), Takumi Kanaya (Japan), Kazuya Osawa (Japan) Jaemin Han (Korea), Dong-min Kim (Korea), Daniel Hillier (New Zealand), Lloyd Jefferson Go (Philippines), Gregory Foo (Singapore), Sadom Keawkanjana (Thailand) and Kammalas Namuangruk (Thailand). Thomas, who also won the Dubai Creek Open in 2016, besides the Qatar event, had a strong run at the 2017 United States Junior making the semi-final stage and will be hoping to continue his good form at the DGC.     ASIA-PACIFIC MEN’S TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP (NOMURA CUP) AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVES AND RECORDS The Asia-Pacific Team Championship is conducted by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation and is a biennial competition rotated among the Asia-Pacific region. Each team, which consists of four male players, plays 18 holes of stroke play for four days. In each round, the total of the scores from each team constitutes the team score for the round. The four-day (72-hole) total is the team’s score for the championship.     SINGAPORE GOLF ASSOCIATION 2015 ANNUAL REPORT 2015 ANNUALREPORT (APR 15 – MAR 16) INTRODUCTION ingapore amateur golfers chalked several notable “firsts” in the Sinternational amateur golfing arena in FY2015. The most noteworthy must be the podium finish in all four golf events at the 28th SEA Games hosted by Singapore. Team Singapore won the men’s team and individual silver medals and the women’s team and individual bronze medals. The other notable achievement was Team Singapore’s fourth placing at the 27th Asia Pacific Golf Team Championship (Nomura Cup). This was our best ever performance finishing behind champion Team Japan, Team Chinese Taipei and Team Korea. 3 54th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING he SGA 54th Annual General Meeting was held at the SICC Bukit Location on 27 Jul 15. TA total of eleven SGA Ordinary Members were present at the AGM. Mr James Koh Cher Siang, Chairman SICC, was elected for a second term of office as Chairman SGA Governing Council. Auditors SB Tan & Co were also reappointed. There was no change to the SGA Executive Board as members were appointed at the last AGM for a two year term of office.
