The Troy Roberts Trio—Troy Roberts (saxophone), Tim Jago (guitar), and Alex Hernandez (bass)—brings a very special evening of audible fun, as they revisit and revamp some of their favorite jazz standards! Troy Roberts, saxophonist, hails from the remote location of Perth, West Australia. Troy has received numerous accolades including three DownBeat SM Jazz Soloist Awards, two GRAMMY® nominations, and was semi-finalist in the 2008 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. Troy has extensively performed around Europe and the United States with artists such as Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, Joey DeFrancesco, James Morrison, Aretha Franklin, , Christian McBride, , , Dave Douglas, Orrin Evans and Kurt Elling to name a few. He received his master degree from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. As an educator, Troy has presented numerous master classes and clinics at prestigious colleges, conservatoriums, and universities around the world. Tim Jago, Australian guitarist/composer/educator began performing in ensembles at the age of 21. He completed a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Tim relocated to the United States in August 2010 and attended the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, where he completed a Master of Music in Studio Music and Jazz with a major in Jazz Guitar Performance and a Doctor of Musical Arts. In 2015, Dr. Jago was announced a semi-finalist in the inaugural Wes Montgomery International Jazz Guitar Competition. Tim has performed and recorded extensively across Australia and the United States – with such artists as Patti Austin, Terence Blanchard, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Chick Corea, Gloria Estefan, Wycliffe Gordon, James Morrison, and Chris Potter, among many others. Alex Hernandez, GRAMMY® nominated bassist, was born and raised in Miami, FL. Alex began playing music at an early age, and has gone on to have a fruitful career as a bassist in New York City. Performing steadily in some of New York’s most historic jazz clubs, as well as in the Latin music scene, Alex remains in high demand.
