THE COLOR LINE IN OHIO PUBLIC SCHOOLS, 1829-1890 DISSERTATION Presented In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree Doctor of Philosophy in the Graduate School of The Ohio State University By LEONARD ERNEST ERICKSON, B. A., M. A, ****** The Ohio State University I359 Approved Adviser College of Education ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This dissertation is not the work of the author alone, of course, but represents the contributions of many persons. While it is impossible perhaps to mention every one who has helped, certain officials and other persons are especially prominent in my memory for their encouragement and assistance during the course of my research. I would like to express my appreciation for the aid I have received from the clerks of the school boards at Columbus, Dayton, Toledo, and Warren, and from the Superintendent of Schools at Athens. In a similar manner I am indebted for the courtesies extended to me by the librarians at the Western Reserve Historical Society, the Ohio State Library, the Ohio Supreme Court Library, Wilberforce University, and Drake University. I am especially grateful to certain librarians for the patience and literally hours of service, even beyond the high level customary in that profession. They are Mr. Russell Dozer of the Ohio State University; Mrs. Alice P. Hook of the Historical and Philosophical Society; and Mrs. Elizabeth R. Martin, Miss Prances Goudy, Mrs, Marion Bates, and Mr. George Kirk of the Ohio Historical Society. ii Ill Much of the time for the research Involved In this study was made possible by a very generous fellowship granted for the year 1956 -1 9 5 7, for which I am Indebted to the Graduate School of the Ohio State University.

  • Student Writing Sample Ohio’S Original Interscholastic Creative Writing Program for Middle Schools
student writing sample Ohio’s Original Interscholastic Creative Writing Program for Middle Schools Sticky Fingers by Sabrine Djemil, Grade 8, Brecksville-Broadview Heights Middle School Elephants are one of the most vivid memories of my childhood. I had an alphabet book, and on the page for letter E there was a picture of a purple spotted elephant. Late into the night, my father and I would stay up practicing our elephant noises. I’m sure that by now, he has found someone else to giggle with. My time as his child is over. Another little girl has taken my place. He took me to the zoo once. I was only five, and he was off work for the day – the first time in weeks. He had an appointment at the golf course that afternoon, I remember. Whenever my sticky fingers would press against the shiny metallic clubs, I could see him wince. But that morning, he was all mine and we spent a good twenty minutes visiting the elephants. I stared in awe at the enormous beasts, and my sticky fingers left little smears against the glass barrier when I attempted to clamber into the safari exhibit. I never got very far – his hands always held me back. When sticky fingers pressed against his cheek, my father couldn’t bring himself to care about the residue they left. My fingers have not been sticky in a long time, and the elephant alphabet book has long since been shoved into a forgotten drawer. He called me just last week, my dear father.

I invite you to take a look at the many shows we have scheduled for the Eisemann Center Presents 2018-19 Season. In all we have 28 shows and 45 performances making their way to Richardson and the stages of the Eisemann Center this coming season. As you leaf through the pages, most of the shows do not need extensive descriptive blocks of information to understand the unique and special artistic skills of these artists and shows. Music, dance, theater, comedy, Broadway and family shows all make up our “must see” season. Over the past few years you may have noticed our increased efforts at finding shows that are suitable and appealing to audiences and families of all ages. Most of our programming will safely fit into this family plan. We are excited to have The Wizard of Oz, B – The Underwater Bubble Show, and STOMP on our lineup of family centered programming. We have been working hard to find artists and shows that engage with the community beyond our walls. This year educational outreach programs will come from Jeffrey Siegel (Keyboard Conversations®); David Harrell – The Boy Who Would Be Captain Hook; Paul Taylor Dance Company; Sammy Miller and The Congregation; The Second City Touring Company; and the cast of Childsplay – Shh! We Have A Plan. Add to these our Eisemann Extras workshops that take place prior to each Family Theatre Series show and there is a wealth of outreach taking place with room still to grow.

Seinfeld, The Movie an original screenplay by Mark Gavagan based on the "Seinfeld" television series by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld contact: Cole House Productions EXCERPT: KRAMER IN THE LOBBY OF NBC's HEADQUARTERS INT. NBC LOBBY MANGER'S OFFICE RUSSELL DALRYMPLE looks devilishly pleased with his newfound power as he sits with his feet up on a small desk in this small office. INT. NBC HEADQUARTERS LOBBY -- MOMENTS LATER KRAMER enters the busy lobby, making a very contrived effort to look casual. His hand holding the water bottle is in his front pants pocket. Our viewing angle changes and we see that the bottle has leaked and created a huge wet spot, appearing as though he peed his pants. KRAMER remains clueless as tourists and employees in the lobby notice the wet spot. A SECURITY GUARD takes-in the situation hurries towards an office door fifteen feet away. KRAMER suddenly feels the dampness, stops dead in his tracks, and looks down. INT. NBC LOBBY MANGER'S OFFICE SECURITY GUARD Mr. Dalrymple, we've got a situation. RUSSELL What kind of situation? SECURITY GUARD There's a man in the lobby with a pee stain. RUSSELL's feet hit the floor as he sits up in his chair. RUSSELL A pee stain? SECURITY GUARD Yes sir. A huge pee stain. The SECURITY GUARD peeks his head out the door to check on what's happening. SECURITY GUARD (CONT'D) Uh-oh. RUSSELL stands. 2. RUSSELL (concerned) Uh-oh? What's uh-oh? INT. NBC HEADQUARTERS LOBBY KRAMER is vigorously wiping and blotting the enormous wet spot on the front of his pants.

EUGENE VICTOR DEBS A Political Guide for the Workers Socialist Party Campaign Book 1920 Prepared by the Department of Labor Research, Rand School of Social Science A. L. Trachtenberg, Director Published by The Socialist Party of the United States 220 South Ashland Boulevard CHICAGO, ILL. 1920 COPYRIGHT 1920 BY THE SOCIALIST PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES CHICAGO, ILL. Printed in the U. S. A. FOREWORD ^^ This little book is the joint work of a number of con tributors, which has been compiled under the general editorship of Alexander Trachtenberg, Director of the Department of Labor Research of the Rand School of Social Science, and James Oneal, member of the National Executive Committee of the Socialist party. Benjamin Glassberg. of the Rand School also rendered valuable assistance in the editorial work. Among the contributors to the volume are Morris Hill- quit, David P. Berenberg, Evans Clark, Roger Baldwin, Solon DeLeon, Lewis Gannett, Benjamin Glassberg, Bertha Hale White, William Morris Feigenbaum, Alex ander Trachtenberg, James Oneal and Irwin St. John Tucker. The book is the result of a request made by the Na tional Executive Committee that the Research Depart ment of the Rand School of Social Science co-operate in the preparation of material for it. The editorial committee believes that the book marks an advance over the bulky campaign books that have been prepared in the past, in that the material is much less in quantity, it is presented in a more popular style, statistics have been reduced to a minimum, while the information will prove of service to party speakers and editors and at the same time serve as a propaganda book among the workers.
