2018-2019 SEASON

BRINGING GREAT PERFORMANCES TO NORTH TEXAS STOMP ©Steve McNicholas 2012

MUSIC & DANCE FAMILY & BROADWAY SPECIALS THEATRE & COMEDY KEYBOARD CONVERSATIONS® FAMILY THEATRE SERIES From the Managing Director Bringing Great Performances to North Texas...

I invite you to take a look at the many shows we have scheduled for the Eisemann Center Presents 2018-19 Season. In all we have 28 shows and 45 performances making their way to Richardson and the stages of the Eisemann Center this coming season.

As you leaf through the pages, most of the shows do not need extensive descriptive blocks of information to understand the unique and special artistic skills of these artists and shows. Music, dance, theater, comedy, Broadway and family shows all make up our “must see” season.

Over the past few years you may have noticed our increased efforts at finding shows that are suitable and appealing to audiences and families of all ages. Most of our programming will safely fit into this family plan. We are excited to have of Oz, B – The Underwater Bubble Show, and STOMP on our lineup of family centered programming.

We have been working hard to find artists and shows that engage with the community beyond our walls. This year educational outreach programs will come from Jeffrey Siegel (Keyboard Conversations®); David Harrell – The Boy Who Would Be Captain Hook; Paul Taylor Dance Company; Sammy Miller and The Congregation; The Second City Touring Company; and the cast of Childsplay – Shh! We Have A Plan. Add to these our Eisemann Extras workshops that take place prior to each Family Theatre Series show and there is a wealth of outreach taking place with room still to grow. One additional program that has a community outreach component to it is A Holiday Celebration of Hope and Unity, featuring the Sonos Handbell Ensemble, Frederica von Stade, and the Dallas Street Choir on December 11th. We will be collecting donations of clothing and other items to be given to the homeless in Dallas. See page 12 for more details.

In closing, there is one new brochure change you will discover, or more specifically, not find…a ticket order form. Orders are now being done totally online including subscriptions, multiple show flex discount packages, and of course single tickets. No more paper forms to fill out and mail in. You may also place advance orders online for Prelude Café, self-park or valet parking when ordering tickets. Don’t worry, if needed, we still have our expert Patron Services Representatives available in the Ticket Office to assist you. Just call 972.744.4650.

The Boy Who Would Be Captain Hook

In a moving, yet humorous look at growing up, David Harrell brings to life a story of his childhood in The Boy Who Would Be Captain Hook. Born without his right hand and fitted with a prosthetic hook before he starts school, he is kept on the sidelines of recess until the game becomes Peter Pan! He fits perfectly into the game as Captain Hook but soon grows tired of playing the part and decides he wants to be a hero. What happens when you decide not to be defined by your circumstances and change the game? With appearances from hilarious and colorful characters from his childhood, David serves as story teller and performer, teaching the importance of accepting and including others that may not look exactly the way that we do.

STOMP ©Steve McNicholas 2012 STOMP

STOMP, the international percussion sensation, makes its Eisemann Center premiere in March 2019. A unique combination of percussion, movement and visual comedy, STOMP has created its own inimitable, contempo- rary form of rhythmic expression: both household and industrial objects find new life as musical instruments in the hands of an idiosyncratic band of body percussionists. The eight-member troupe uses everything but con- ventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.
