We are excited to be partnering with the Stockton Arena and the Stockton Thunder Hockey Team this year to bring you our signature event in a fantastic new venue. Sponsors will also have the unique opportunity to purchase a discounted ticket package for the regular season home finale of the Thunder Hockey season (see enclosed for details). Fifty percent of the proceeds from the ticket packages will be donated to the Women's Center. Serving as keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Michael Pritchard, a nationally acclaimed speaker known for his ability to use humor to inspire and educate his audiences. Michael's background as a stand-up comic, juvenile counselor, actor, and probation officer gives him a unique perspective and range of abilities. Michael has performed with comedy greats such as Robin Williams and Jerry Seinfeld, and has been featured on CNN, NBC's "The Today Show", "The Tonight Show", and in "Time" magazine and "People" magazine. The Women's Center's luncheon has become a premier event in our community; each year more than 600 guests attend this event and the funds raised from the luncheon help support critical services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. I had an alphabet book, and on the page for letter E there was a picture of a purple spotted elephant. Late into the night, my father and I would stay up practicing our elephant noises. I’m sure that by now, he has found someone else to giggle with. My time as his child is over. Another little girl has taken my place. He took me to the zoo once. I was only five, and he was off work for the day – the first time in weeks. He had an appointment at the golf course that afternoon, I remember. Whenever my sticky fingers would press against the shiny metallic clubs, I could see him wince. But that morning, he was all mine and we spent a good twenty minutes visiting the elephants. I stared in awe at the enormous beasts, and my sticky fingers left little smears against the glass barrier when I attempted to clamber into the safari exhibit. I never got very far – his hands always held me back. When sticky fingers pressed against his cheek, my father couldn’t bring himself to care about the residue they left. My fingers have not been sticky in a long time, and the elephant alphabet book has long since been shoved into a forgotten drawer. He called me just last week, my dear father.

Das Quartett aus Nashville/Tennessee hat zwei Club-Shows hierzulande bestätigt, bei denen es nicht nur das am 18. Januar 2019 erschienene zweite Album „Old News“ (Thirty Tigers/Alive), sondern auch Stücke ihres Debüts „Straw In The Wind“ (2017) live vorstellen wird. The Steel Woods sind am 11.09.19 in Hamburg im Nochtspeicher zu Gast! Gegründet werden The Steel Woods von Gitarrist/Sänger Wes Bayliss (aus Alabama) und Gitarrist Jason "Rowdy" Cope (aus North Carolina). Die beiden Musiker lernen sich während eines gemeinsamen Auftritts in Nashville kennen, nach einigen Angeltrips beginnen sie, zusammen Songs zu schreiben.
