French Film Festival 6 - 22 November 2020

The French Film Festival returns from 6 to 22 November 2020. Organised by the Embassy of in Singapore, in collaboration with local distributors and partners, the Festival will feature its biggest lineup comprising 37 latest feature films for everyone through a diverse genre of films including comedy, drama and classics that people can enjoy in the cinemas, and in the comfort of their own homes.

Adapted from the novel by Hannelore Cayre “La Daronne” / The Godmother, which was the winner of the Grand Prize for detective literature (French) in 2017. Patience Portefeux is a French-Arabic police translator who specialises in phone tapings for the anti-narcotics unit. One day, whilst listening to wanted drug dealers, she discovers that one of them is the son of a devoted nurse who takes care of her mother. She decides to protect him and finds herself in the middle of a drug network. After receiving a huge load of hash in her hands, she uses her insider knowledge and police resources to build her own drug trafficking network and earns the name Mama Weed.
