  • Principal's Ponderings
Volume 2, Issue 5 Principal’s Ponderings December 2016 “Silent Night, Holy Night”….in your mind did you start to complete the next beloved lyrics? Isn’t this a most wonderful time of year? For so many people, and definitely for myself, the music of Christmas season is one of the best traditions of the celebration that we partake in this month. Grow- ing up in Colorado, participating in the church Christmas program was just what we did. Practicing the songs, the pageant, and the readings were all part of our Saturday mornings (we didn’t have a Lutheran grade school, so I was part of the Sunday school group that put on the program). We looked forward to the Sunday evening presentation and the explosion of excitement for that evening. Afterwards, we would share in a party atmos- phere (birthday party?) as the paper bags filled with apples and hard can- dies and nuts were handed out to the participants. Isn’t it amazing how memories of this season so easily flood back when we listen to the songs of the season? And isn’t is fantastic how the Holy Spirit uses spirit-filled songs throughout our secular society to plant the incredible truth of the real reason for the season in everyone’s minds as those songs reverberate through the mall or are even played on regular radio stations. As you wander around hearing, humming, and singing those cherished melodies that can take you back in time while expressing the love of the present instance of festivity, please do lift up your thanks to our Lord for all of the blessings that come our way through His gift of sal- vation that was found in a manger almost 2000 years ago.
