History

• The tradition of Teacher Education in Hildesheim goes back to the 19th century • 1946: beginning as »the lecture courses of the Hildesheim Teacher Training College« • 1978: The Hildesheim Teacher Training College, meanwhile part of the Lower Teacher Training College, becomes a university in its own right; diversification meant the develop- ment and foundation of new faculties outside of Teacher Trai- ning • 1989: The is officially entitled to full university status • 2003: The University of Hildesheim Foundation is established Important dates & facts
