Riley England Cues LR.Pdf History SNOOKER TABLES OF DISTINCTION SINCE 1897 Riley was originally established, in 1897, as a humble sports shop in Manchester. By 1912, the Company had diversified into manufacturing Snooker tables in Accrington. It soon produced 4000 full size tables a year and exported to all parts of the globe. TM By the mid 1920’s the Riley brand, based upon creative design, quality materials and immaculate craftsmanship had grown into a leading premium snooker tables, cues and accessories brand. BCE was founded, in 1976. The Company started life as a distributor to the coin operator sector, supplying cues, balls and table spares. By 1980, BCE had diversified into the manufacture of snooker tables. From 1982-1992 the BCE Westbury snooker table was the table being used at all the World professional snooker tournaments and BCE had become one of the biggest names in snooker. In 2002, Stuart Lacey brought the Riley and BCE brands together within the same Group. Today, Riley and BCE Snooker tables continue to be made in Accrington, England. Our products have an aspirational mix of style, craftsmanship, performance and desirability, with many of the sport’s leading professionals endorsing Riley and BCE products. Our employees will ensure that our story continues by passing our skills and values onto Riley England Snooker Table Collection the next generation. Our highly skilled chief fitter, was trained by his father, and is now training his son, who wants to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Riley produce some of the finest production snooker cues available in the world today. From entry level cues right through to our Elegance range, we pride ourselves on the attention to detail built into every single cue. Cue Shafts All of our cues are constructed from North American Ash - hand selected for the very best grain patterns. A straight grain is essential when lining up shots. All of the ash is precisely kiln dried to drive out moisture and prevent warping during use. This is a highly skilled process - cues that are over-dried will be just as prone to warping as those that have not been dried sufficiently. At the top of our range, we offer the unique L8 Laminated Cue Shaft. This is constructed from eight pieces of wood laminated together to form a single, strong and rigid cue. There is far less lateral movement when striking the cue ball, meaning less deflection, straighter shots and increased potting success. Cue Designs Riley produce a range of cues that runs from contemporary designs to traditional style. On our top of the range cues, we use only carefully selected exotic woods to create the cue butt, combining these in visually imaginative ways to achieve a standard that has not been seen previously in production cues - even many custom made cues can not match the quality, precision and appearance of our Elegance range. Cue Tips The tip is the point of contact between the cue and the cue ball - the best cue in the World will play poorly with a bad tip installed. That is why Riley use only the very best. On our premium cues, we use the Kamui Black laminated tip - a unique innovation that adds significant performance benefits as well as lasting longer than most other types commonly available. The Kamui Black tip has been engineered to accept more chalk than a standard tip, meaning that the cue grips the cue ball better and hence the player can Riley England Cue Collection generate more movement on the cue ball. Positional play becomes much easier. They also deflect less when contacting the cue ball, meaning that shots go straighter and less unintentional spin is imparted to the cue ball. British craftsmen are renowned all over the World for their skill, painstaking attention to detail and the quality of the product they produce. All of these combine in the truly luxurious Riley England “Made in England” range. Developed in conjunction with Ronnie O’Sullivan, possibly the most naturally gifted player ever to pick up a cue, this range is only for the most discerning player – those that can appreciate the natural beauty of stunningly finished, hand selected exotic woods. Every cue in the range is special and unique – natural variations in wood grains and colours mean that no two cues are exactly alike. Made to order especially for you – when only the very, very best is good enough. 20 RILEY - BCE Cue Sports (China) Co., Ltd 莱利碧诗意(上海)体育用品有限公司 Add: Room 1706, No. 811, Tianyaoqiao Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, China 地址:上海市徐汇区天钥桥路811号1706室Zip Code 邮编:200030 Tel 电话:021-54610586 / 021-64403258 Fax 传真: 021-64403330 WWW.RILEY-CHINA.COM WWW.RILEYENGLAND.COM LE-100 Limited Edition Cue Personally Signed by The Riley ROS Limited edition cue is very special in every respect. • Memoirs of 1984
Yuri Tarnopolsky MEMOIRS OF 1984 PREFACE In this book, published in 1993, I wrote, “Here in America, I ask myself a new question: Could anything like that happen here? It is America that I am now concerned about most of all.” I see the assault of Donald Trump & Co. on the body of American institutions, values, and traditions as a political gang rape. It was cheered, unfortunately, by a large part of Americans. The absurdity of “alternative facts” and the cold cruelty of the now infamous “ban on Muslims” revived my memories of the so-called “refusal”: the Russian ban on emigration of Jews of 1979-1987. I spent the actual 1984 in a Siberian prison camp on the Mongolian border. The Orwellian relics of the bygone Soviet-Russian life, some of which have been restored and burnished in Putin’s Russia, seem to be tested for import to the USA. I see with bitter satisfaction that George Orwell’s 1984 is being read again in America and some prominent Russian immigrants in the U.S. are shivering like in a cold draft. The worldwide march of anti-Trump protesters makes me hopeful, but not enough to ease my worries. It is hard to guess what the elephant in the china shop can do next. With all that, I clearly see that Donald Trump has touched upon some real and important problems and his voters are not necessarily bigots, retrogrades, and rednecks. He has a point. He is strong. I am worried all the more because he is strong enough to open the floodgates for lies, absurdity, and hate.
