INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background This submission is made in response to a number of issues raised in the Productivity Commission Workplace Relations Framework: Issues Papers 1-5. The matters addressed in this submission are based on our experience of over 20 years of enterprise bargaining and our broader human resource management experience. It should be noted that some of the submissions made here were made to the Fair Work Review in 2012. Qantas has experienced a range of challenges during the operation of the Fair Work Act. This paper sets out Qantas’ submissions and suggestions for reform in respect of the following areas of the workplace relations framework: • Safety Nets • Bargaining Framework • Employee protections This submission is made on behalf of the Qantas Group.
