The AMU Chamber Choir was established by Prof. Krzysztof Szydzisz, voice projection expert, in 1992, and has worked for over twenty- five years under his direction. Prof. Szydzisz’s assistant since 2003 is Dr Joanna Piech-Sławecka, who became second conductor in 2013. The choir’s repertoire comprises a cappella pieces as well as vocal and instrumental forms of all epochs. It never fails to surprise both Poznań and international audiences with fascinating music programmes featuring Jewish and Gypsy music, sailor songs, Astor Paizzola’s tangos, songs by Kabaret Starszych Panów (Old Gentlemen’s Cabaret), jazz numbers and many others.

The ensemble is famous for exceptionally blended tone quality, the result of working with the conductor, a vocal projection specialist. Its recipe for success is first of all good organization and team work. Great solo singers are also a great asset of the choir. Their versatility is appreciated by the audience and composers.

The Chamber Choir actively participates in the life of the city and Łukasz Borowicz, Marek Pijarowski, Jerzy Salwarowski, Waldemar the University, and gives concerts both in Poland and abroad. It is Malicki, Martin Palmeri - these are just a few names of great artists Adam Mickiewicz known across Europe, with performances in the Czech Republic, and groups with whom the Chamber Choir has had the pleasure to France, Greece, Georgia, , Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, , collaborate. University Chamber Choir Slovakia, , the Vatican, United Kingdom and Italy, but it also had concerts in the USA, Australia, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru, Florida Mexico, Colombia and South Korea. The Choir has also released several records, notably: Tobie i sobie October 25, 2016 – November 11, 2016 śpiewam (Singing for you and me) in 2003, Piosenka jest dobra na wszystko. Piosenki Starszych Panów (A song is the best remedy. Most of these journeys involved participation in a number of Old Gentelmen’s Cabaret songs) in 2005, Florilegium in 2007 and contests, in which the choir won prestigious awards, receiving praise The Spirit of Tango. Misa a Buenos Aires in 2014, together with the from the jury, applause of the audience and recognition of the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of the Polish Radio under the direction international choir community. The choir won prizes at a number of Agnieszka Duczmal, singer Małgorzata Walewska, composer of festivals held in Legnica, Międzyzdroje, Suwałki, Llangollen (UK), Martin Palmeri and bandoneonist Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi. In 2009 the choir came second in the youth choir category at the prestigious International Choir Competition “Let the Peoples Sing” in , The AMU Chamber Choir is the organizer of the International Festival organized by Euroradio. In 2012 (under the direction of Joanna of University Choirs “Universitas Cantat”, held in Poznań every two Piech-Sławecka), the choir was awarded second prize in the mixed years. When working with the choir, he devotes special attention to showing his singers the ins and outs of singing technique, and thus instructing them on tone quality of the whole ensemble. The chief among his wide range of interests is 19th to 21st century European choral literature.

Prof. Krzysztof Szydzisz performs the role of vocal consultant for many choir ensembles at home and abroad. He is also an adjudicator in Polish and international choral competitions such as Legnica Cantat, Canti Veris Praga, IFAS Pardubice, Advent and Christmas Music Festival Praga, International Festival of Advent and Christmas Music in Bratislava and Tonen 2000 International Choir Festival.

Since 2004 he is head of the Department of Voice Production and Training at the The Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where, besides his academic and didactic activity, he regularly organizes seminars and workshops on voice projection, speech therapy (use of voice in a professional setting), ensemble direction and performance traditions and practices of various epochs. He is the director of the International Festival of University Choirs Universitas Cantat, organized since 1998 in Poznań.
