  • Hampir Sejuta Pekerja Awam Dapat Opsyen SSM Oktober (BH 30/08
Hadir sama, Naib Canselor UTM, Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zulkifli Mohd Ghazali dan Timbalan Naib Canselor (Pembangunan), Prof Dr Azraai Kassim.

  • MCA - Three Strikes and You're Out! Malaysiakini.Com April 8, 2013 by K Temoc
MCA - three strikes and you're out! MalaysiaKini.com April 8, 2013 By K Temoc After the 1969 general election the late Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman, then deputy prime minister, was known to have said, “MCA dan MIC nampaknya tidak mahu hidup dan tidak mahu pula mati”, using a Malay idiom ‘hidup segan, mati tak mahu’ (figuratively ‘neither alive nor dead’) to sneeringly describe a virtually political-defunct Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA). MCA had then been dealt its first strike in the game of politics. Undoubtedly May 1969 was a bad time for the MCA, losing in disastrous measures to a loose coalition of the (original) Gerakan Party, a then very new Democratic Action Party (DAP), the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) (then under the Seenivasagam brothers), and even Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS). But embarrassing as it was for MCA, it wasn't its worst moment yet, because successes and failures are part and parcel of politics, and while depressing, we expected the MCA to pick itself up again. And it did. In 1985, during the acrimonious dispute for the party’s presidential post between Tan Koon Swan and Neo Yee Pan, MCA disgraced itself in no uncertain terms by having the then deputy prime minister, the late Ghafar Baba and a Malay, occupied the MCA’s top position to moderate a settlement between the two Chinese contenders. That incident would not have been disgracefully controversial if the MCA had been a multiracial political party. That it was, and still is, a Chinese race-based party, in having a Malay as its head, no matter how temporary it had been, was certainly a dubious Malaysian first, an utterly shameful indictment on MCA’s inability to represent itself, let alone the Chinese community.

View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk brought to you by CORE provided by Research Papers in Economics Staff Professionalism in University Services: a case study of UiTM Noriah Mohamed Ali Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam Abstract This paper aims to show that staff professionalism is one of the factors that lead to customer satisfaction in university services. Staff professionalism is an important component in university services. A quality service is considered as one of the important research topics in the context of service delivery in universities. Frontline university service is the first step before the public or customers pursue the matter further. If at this first step they are provided with quality service, indirectly it reflects positively on the university. However, if the quality of the service provided is poor it reflects negatively on the university. In this study, 192 of 909 graduates students who responded to the questionnaire and analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software to achieve the outcome of the study. The findings show that there is a positive relationship between staff professionalism and customer satisfaction. Several recommendations were suggested to UiTM in order to improve its counter services delivery and to achieve customer satisfaction. Keywords Staff professionalism, customer satisfaction, public universities 1 Introduction The quality of service to the public is very important for public agencies. 25 AUG 2002 Walk 15,000 TO WALK THEIR WAY INTO MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS MELAKA, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- A total of 15,000 people are pooling their efforts to walk non-stop for 560km in 118 hours, a feat which will earn them a place in the Malaysia Book of Records. The first group of about 1,000 participants was flagged off by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam in front of the Independence Declaration Memorial in Bandar Hilir here at 1am today. Along the route in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, groups of about 200 people each will continue the challenge until the journey ends in the federal administrative capital of Putrajaya. The non-stop independence group walking event is organised by the National Civics Bureau in the Prime Minister's Department. It is themed "On the Ruins of Melaka Fort We Built Putrajaya", after a poem of the same title written by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The event's media officer, Saiful Bahar Mohd Arshad, said the final batch of walkers was expected to reach Dataran Putra in Putrajaya at 10pm on Aug 29. At the flag-off, Malaysia Book of Records assistant general manager Irene Liong witnessed the signing of a certificate to endorse the record bid. Saiful Bahar said the participants would be greeted by Dr Mahathir on arrival at Dataran Putra.
