WE’VE LAUNCHED A NEW PUBLIC-FACING BRAND - SPORT AUSTRALIA – WITH A RENEWED VISION FOR AUSTRALIA TO BE THE WORLD’S MOST ACTIVE SPORTING NATION, KNOWN FOR ITS INTEGRITY, SPORTING SUCCESS AND WORLD-LEADING SPORTS INDUSTRY. This aligns with the Australian Government’s long-term vision for sport in this country, outlined in Sport 2030, released in August 2018 by Minister for Sport Bridget McKenzie. Sport Australia will be central to delivering the priorities outlined in this national sport plan. At the fundamental level, Sport Australia’s focus will be on getting Australians moving through sport and, more broadly, physical activity. We want to inspire and activating people across every age, race, gender, cultural background and physical ability. We will continue to build partnerships in the health and education sectors to ensure physical activity is a confidence in what our athletes stand for and how they carry national priority. -

THE DRAGONS DEN – NEWSLETTER #20 IT’S FINALS TIME (unless you are in VC)!! What a fantastic effort, we have 15 of our VJBL teams competing in finals. For those who haven’t made finals, don’t forget we have our VJBL awards night on Saturday October 16th at Genezzano to wrap up the season. Get down and support some of the Dragons teams this Friday night, good luck everyone – GO DRAGONS!! IMPORTANT DATES Friday 25th August VJL and Regional Finals start Saturday 16th September Dragons VJBL Presentation Night Sunday 8th October Tryouts for the 2017/2018 season commence IT’S FINALS TIME Staying home on a Friday night is overrated!! Get out and support some of our Dragons teams playing in finals. The following teams have made finals: BOYS: 12/1, 14/2, 14/5, 16/1, 16/3, 18/2, 18/4, 20/1 AND 20/2. GIRLS: 12/2, 14/3, 14/4, 16/3, 16/4 AND 18/2 (our 12/1 VC girls have 1 more game and will hopefully play finals). Submission to the Standing Committee on Transport and Regional Services May 2005 Version 1 SEATS Submission to the Standing Committee on Transport and Regional Services EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Councils of Gippsland, Gippsland Area Consultative Committee (GACC), and South East Australian Transport Strategy Inc (SEATS) are delighted to provide this submission to the Inquiry into the Integration of Regional Rail and Road Freight Transport and their Interface with Ports. Gippsland is located in eastern Victoria and extends from the Great Dividing Range in the north, through rich and productive timber and agricultural grazing land, to the Bass Strait coastline in the south and from the New South Wales border in the east to the Latrobe Region and Phillip Island in the west and south-west. The Region comprises the LGAs of Bass Coast, East Gippsland, Latrobe, South Gippsland, Wellington and Baw Baw Shire The Region covers an area of almost 40,000 sq kms, or 17.5% of the total area of Victoria. The major urban centres are Bairnsdale, Leongatha, Moe, Morwell, Sale, Traralgon, Warragul and Wonthaggi. Gippsland’s major industries include dairy, timber and forest products, energy production, other agriculture, cement and sand extraction, and tourism. These industries are described below. Figure 2 provides an overview of the transport network in the Gippsland Region. The region is serviced by road, rail, air and sea infrastructure. Women Can... THURSDAY 17 NOVEMBER Women telling their stories in and through sport Who are we? The Deakin Women in Sport and Exercise Hub (Deakin WISE HUB) is a group of like-minded individuals with a common goal of creating an internationally recognised HUB that fosters women and girls to increase confidence in their capacity to participate and engage in sport and exercise at all levels and across their lifespan. Who should attend? Students with a genuine interest in what sport can offer, leveraging sport to create opportunities and to learn what courses Deakin University offers in regards to Sport. Guest Speaker Lauren Jackson Lauren Jackson is the most famous basketball player in Australia and was recognised as one of the world’s best basketball players by the time she was 21. Lauren represented Australia at four Olympic Games, three senior and two junior world championships, and has played in every major basketball league across the world. Post retirement Lauren is forging a role in basketball administration and has recently joined the ownership group of the Deakin Melbourne Boomers, being named the team’s commercial operations executive. Lauren also served as a commentator for Channel Seven’s broadcast of the Olympic tournament. Victoria: the Basketball Capital of Australia
Sunday, 1 September 2018 VICTORIA: THE BASKETBALL CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA Victoria will cement its position as Australia’s basketball capital with the National Basketball League’s (NBL) new ninth team to be based in Melbourne, along with a massive expansion of basketball programs and facilities under a re-elected Andrews Labor Government. Premier Daniel Andrews today joined basketballers at the State Basketball Centre at Knox Regional Sports Park to announce the new team and a $126 million package to grow basketball from the grassroots to elite level. The new NBL team will be a Melbourne team with its headquarters and training at the Knox Regional Sports Park in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs. The team’s name will be announced by the NBL. A re-elected Labor Government will deliver a massive expansion of basketball facilities at Knox. This will include training and administration facilities for the new Melbourne NBL team and upgraded facilities for Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) team, the Deakin Melbourne Boomers, who are based there. It will also include 10 new community courts for local basketball competitions in Melbourne’s growing south-east. Labor will also build a new home for the Australian Basketball Centre of Excellence at Knox as part of the $107 million expansion project, with Basketball Australia relocating their training facilities from Canberra. A re-elected Labor Government will provide $82 million towards the expansion project, with Knox City Council to contribute the remaining $25 million. Labor will also invest $5 million to establish seven new high-performance basketball hubs around the state. -

Purchase of Membership 1.1 A person or persons may choose to join or renew their Deakin Melbourne Boomers membership either online, or over the phone via a call back. 1.2 After applying for membership via the phone or online you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. 1.3 Memberships purchased after the first home game will be charged at the advertised price on the Deakin Melbourne Boomers Membership website, and not be sold on a pro-rata basis unless advertised. 1.4 The Deakin Melbourne Boomers reserve its right not to accept any Membership application in its absolute discretion. 1.5 Subject to applicable law, once your membership has been processed you are not entitled to a refund. Early Childhood Community Profile City of Latrobe 2010 Early Childhood Community Profile City of Latrobe 2010 This Early Childhood community profile was prepared by the Office for Children and Portfolio Coordination, in the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. The series of Early Childhood community profiles draw on data on outcomes for children compiled through the Victorian Child and Adolescent Monitoring System (VCAMS). The profiles are intended to provide local level information on the health, wellbeing, learning, safety and development of young children. They are published to: • Equip communties with the information required to identify the needs of children and families within their local government area. • Aid Best Start partnerships with local service development, innovation and program planning to improve outcomes for young children. • Support local government and regional planning of early childhood services; and • Assist community service agencies working with vulnerable families and young people. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Health and the Australian Bureau of Statistics provided data for this document.
