8:00- Workshop 1: Mobility On Demand On-Ramp Workshop 5:00 PM (Invitation Only) State

Transit agencies are integrating new mobility options to better serve public transportation needs. The Mobility On Demand On-Ramp Program explores challenges and opportunities to achieve that goal through a variety of mobility on demand projects. In this workshop, transportation agencies and innovators interested in developing mobility on demand will interact with national leaders to discuss: developing business plans; establishing successful partnerships; creating mobility performance metrics; and designing strategies for community engagement. Participants will also learn about the six Mobility On Demand On-Ramp Program participant agencies’ projects. In learning about peer agencies’ experiences, workshop participants will gain tools for designing their own mobility on demand pilot projects.

8:00- Workshop 2: Public Agencies Evolving into Mobility 12:00 PM Integrators (Invitation Only) Ambassador

With the changing mobility landscape enabled by technology and changing customer desires, public agencies must evolve alongside the new mobility mix to further the mission of equitable sustainable mobility. Customers want to look, book, and pay for their transportation trips with a tap on the phone. If information about bikeshare, carshare, ridehail, bus, and rail are all

10:45- Breakout 1: Local Government Strategies in Shared 12:15 PM Mobility Imperial Ballroom

To build out a shared mobility network and connect it with public transit we must transform our local government agencies into mobility innovators. What does it take to pilot new programs and break down silos? Join mobility managers at the city, county, and regional levels as they discuss what they do, why they do it, and what it takes for our bureaucracies to evolve into what we need now.

Moderator: Katherine Kortum, Senior Program Officer, Transportation Research Board

Panelists • Kenny Fennell, Senior Mobility Strategist, City of Detroit • Meredith Klekotka, Shared Mobility Program Manager, Metro Transit, Minnesota • Jean Paul Velez, Innovative Mobility Program Manager, King County, Washington

25 10:45- Breakout 2: Carpools Rebooted 12:15 PM Gold

In many ways, carpooling laid the groundwork for shared mobility options to come by connecting drivers with private vehicles to riders, reducing drive-alone trips. While carpooling never went away, technology now offers the possibility of on-demand operations and more seamless, Mobility-as-a- Service-like trips. It’s a whole new world for carpooling, and in this session you can learn about and discuss the latest developments and partnerships.

Moderator: Jumana Nabti, Manager of Access Programs, Bay Area Rapid Transit WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6TH WEDNESDAY, Panelists • Anya Babbit, Founder and CEO, SPLT • Dani Simons, Head of Public Sector Partnerships, Waze • Kevin Orr, CEO, Liftango

10:45- Breakout 3: The Future of Scooter Sharing 12:15 PM AON Auditorium

2018 was the year of the scooter. Backed by venture capital and adopted by users despite being a new mode, scooters have asserted their presence. Yet, important decisions remain for both the public and private sectors: How will scooters operate in comparison to other modes?, Who will regulate the mode and ensure safety?, and Where might scooters fit in the current round of mergers? After brief presentations, these questions will be raised and discussed.

Moderator: Sarah Kaufman, Associate Director, Rudin Center for Transportation Studies, New York University

Panelists • Y.J. Fischer, Sr. Director for Global Partnerships, Bird • Kyle Rowe, Head of Government Partnerships, Spin • Gabriel Scheer, Director of Government Affairs & Strategic Development, Lime • Nicholas Williams, Deputy Chief of Staff, Denver Public Works

26 10:45- Breakout 4: Autonomous Shuttles - What we’re learning 12:15 PM (and how to scale) State

Google brought self-driving cars to public consciousness in 2009 with its highly visible autonomous vehicles (AVs) traveling on California roads. Now, dozens of cities and manufacturers are following suit and the cities of Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Minneapolis are joining London, Helsinki, Singapore and Melbourne in piloting autonomous shuttle buses. This session will take a deeper look at how to get an AV pilot underway, why we need to be clear on what transportation problem it is solving, and how to determine what solutions may work best.

Moderator: Ellen Partridge, Shared-Use Mobility Center

Panelists • Rob Antoniak, Chief Operating Officer, Valley Metro • Joshua Cregger, Technology Policy Analyst, Volpe Center • Amanda Howell, Urbanism Next Project Manager, Sustainable Cities Initiative, University of Oregon • Lauren Isaac, Director of Business Initiatives, EasyMile

10:45- Breakout 5: Innovations in Carsharing: Reaching 12:15 PM Underserved Users Ambassador

Residents of transit disadvantaged areas and lower-income gig economy workers both rely on access to automobiles. Private car ownership is a significant financial risk for individuals in either context. This panel gathers operators and researchers to discuss innovative ways that carsharing addresses mobility needs outside of higher-density and higher-income contexts.

Moderator: Jennifer Dotson, Executive Director, Ithaca Carshare

Panelists • Charles Melton, Public Policy Manager, Turo • Ashlee Tran, Business Development, Getaround • Arnd Baetzner, PhD Candidate, University of St. Gallen, Switzerland

27 10:45- Breakout 6: Benchmarking the European Shared Mobility 12:15 PM Experience Cuvee

Presenter: Allen Greenberg, Senior Policy Analyst, Federal Highway Administration

Participant Respondents: • Sharon Feigon, Executive Director, Shared-Use Mobility Center • Brian Lagerberg, Director of Public Transportation, Washington State Department of Transportation

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and SUMC recently released a Global Benchmarking report for WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6TH WEDNESDAY, implementing shared mobility services. The team researched and visited programs and projects from across Europe, where many of the “new” mobility practices in the U.S.— like mobility hubs and Mobility as a Service (MaaS)—have existed for decades. Join participant respondents from the FHWA international track to learn what’s behind European successes—including innovative contracting and novel consortiums not seen in the U.S.—and what could be done in the U.S. to realize similar gains

12:15- Lunch and Visit the Expo 12:45 PM International Ballroom BOX LUNCHES AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP

12:45- Midday Plenary Panel and Discussion: Multi-Modal 2:15 PM Mergers: When Single Agencies and Corporations Control Multiple Mobility Options Imperial Ballroom

Read the business news and you’ll find that the modes are coming together—thanks in a large part to mergers and acquisitions. This brings a new set of concerns as single agencies and corporations are controlling diverse modes, and offers benefits to users including easier mode transfers and payment integration. This panel will feature private- and public- sector leaders discussing and debating multi-modal mergers.

28 Moderator: Mariia Zimmerman, MZ Strategies

Participants • Jon Coleman, Director, City Solutions, Ford Smart Mobility • Ryan Rzepecki, CEO of JUMP • Jake Sion, COO of Transit App • Gary Thomas, President/Executive Director, Dallas Area Rapid Transit

2:30- Breakout 1: Innovative Mobility Hubs 4:00 pm Imperial Ballroom

Europeans have long engaged in proactive planning and design for proximate multimodal infrastructure and electrification. Leaders in the United States are starting to catch on, developing the planning infrastructure and support for hubs that bring together multiple modes and amenities. Electric, autonomous and shared describe the coming world of vehicles that quietly, efficiently and safely drive themselves. As these system designs are brought out to the public, there will be questions about the social and behavioral impacts, about how autonomous vehicles (AVs) interact with other road vehicles and with pedestrians, about the ways of owning, updating, operating, and connecting vehicles to get people where they want to go. The entire transportation infrastructure—and the communities shaped by it—will be transformed by AVs. This panel discussion will highlight some of the issues that will be part of the transformation and why we should care.

The headlines on climate change are monotonous: “Four of the last five years are the warmest on record.” Climate change is impacting our lives with more intense storms, wildfires, flooding, and extreme heat. Burning fossil fuels is a source of climate change and some say that vehicle electrification is the answer.

Yes, electric vehicles (EVs) are part of the solution, but alone are not enough. While EVs may be cleaner at the tailpipe, they still depend on electricity and many sources of electricity are based on fossil fuels. Our panelists will discuss how shared mobility can help us get to a more sustainable future.

From 2013-2017, Anthony served as the 17th United States Secretary of Transportation, leading an agency with more than 55,000 employees and a $70 billion budget, whose primary goal was to ensure that America maintains the safest, most efficient transportation system in the world. Anthony was also the mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina from 2009- 2013. During this time, he made transportation investments the centerpiece of Charlotte’s job creation and economic recovery efforts. These investments included extending the LYNX light rail system, the largest capital project ever undertaken by the city. He also expanded Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (the sixth busiest in the world), worked with North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue to accelerate the I-485 outer belt loop, and started the Charlotte Streetcar project.
