This Saturday, April 4th, the farmers market moves back outdoors to the corner of Spring and Main Streets in downtown Ossining. The market hosts local farmers and food makers who bring fresh produce, pasture-raised meat, poulty, and eggs, as well as breads, baked goods, prepared foods to go, pickles, cheese, and much more. Several vendors will also feature specialty items for the holiday weekend. Find these delicious foods in the heart of Ossining, every Saturday, from 9 am to 1 pm. We thank the Claremont Elementary School community for hosting us during the winter months. And thank you to all of Ossining and beyond for supporting the market. Green Ossining’s 5th Annual Earth Day Festival at Louis B. Engel Waterfront Park will be on April 18th from 11am-4pm. Bring your family and friends. Learn how to live a more sustainable life, visit artisan vendors, and enjoy food and live music on the Hudson River. The Festival has grown from about 300 attendees in its first year with an expectation to surpass last year's 1,800 attendees. This year, we celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Earth Day, as well as focusing our theme on solar energy. Hosted by Green Ossining with sponsorship support from a variety of community businesses, featured events of the day include: • Artisan Vendors • Athletic Swap- Sports & Recreation Equipment: Do you have sports equipment your kids may have outgrown such as bats, skates, rackets, cleats, sticks and/or protective gear? Ossining Recreation & Parks Department: On-line and in person spring program registration has begun! All individuals looking to register for a program, whether on-line or in person, must have a current Rec ID card at the time of registration. PART TIME OFFICE HELP NEEDED Active design studio in downtown Ossining is looking for part time help. Job description: Filing, organizing design library, sending and receiving packages, answering phones, walking the dog, Bear. 2-3 hours a day 2-3 days a week. We are flexible, but need a steady schedule. Perfect for a responsible and neat high school student, college student or recent graduate. Own car desired but not a must. 10 minute walk from Metro North on the Hudson Line. If you know the elements of book keeping or want to learn, great, but again that is not required for the job. Starting at $10.00-15.00/ hr. Contact Kaja Gam @ 917-748-6749, or send an email: Green Building Regulations Work Committee The Village of Ossining is looking for five people to serve on the Village’s Green Building Regulations Work Committee. This committee will be a work committee. The committee will meet bimonthly and this project is anticipated to take a little over a year to complete. It is anticipated that a committee member will be able to attend the meetings. Access to e-mail is a must. People with knowledge in the development, environmental, real estate, and legal fields are encouraged to apply. All those that would like to participate please send a letter of interest that includes the following information: 1) Contact Information; 2) Your affiliation with Village of Ossining; 3) Experience or background in the following fields: development, environmental, real estate, and/or law; and 4) Explanation of your interest in green building regulations. This program is presented by Randy Levin, a published writer and former teacher, who has helped students who have been accepted at many top colleges. -THE LINCOLN ASSASSINATION: A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 pm at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library To mark the exact 150th anniversary of the assassination of President Lincoln, John Muranelli a Lincoln enthusiast and local resident, presents his research on the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, including his 3-D models recreating the events of that fateful day. This program is co-sponsored with the Briarcliff Manor-Scarborough Historical Society. -HEALTH CARE DECISIONS DAY Thursday, April 16 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library Learn about the importance of having a Health Care Proxy so that someone we trust can make healthcare decisions for us in case we lose capacity to make these decisions for ourselves.
