Love it when a plan comes together movie Continue You may or may not be a fan of the 80s television series The A-Team, but you probably know the show's famous slogan: I like it when a plan comes together. It was frequently used throughout the show's five-season run from 1983 to 1986 by the head of the cigar-chomping team, Colonel John Hannibal Smith, played by actor George Peppard. Peppard first uttered the line in the 2-hour pilot episode Mexican Slayride, which originally aired on January 23, 1983 as an NBC Sunday Night Movie. The first regular one-hour episode of The A-Team aired the following week, january 30, 1983, after the Superbowl. After that, the show moved to a time slot Tuesday at 8 p.m. Other members of Hannibal's good-bonaary mercenary team include Templeton Face Peck, played by Dirk Benedict throughout the regular series, but by Tim Dunigan in the pilot; Howling Mad Murdock, played by Dwight Schultz; and Boscoe B.A. (for Bad Attitude) Baracus, memorably played by Mr. T. Naturally, Peppard's slogan in the television series A-Team was resurrected and used several times in the 2010 film A-Team, which starred Liam Neeson as Hannibal Smith. Some people assume that the A-Team series is also the origin of another well-known slogan - Mr. T's famous phrase I feel sorry for the fool. In fact, this line was first used by Mr. T in the 1982 film Rocky III, in which he played Rocky 'Clubber' Lang's boxing opponent. According to Team A experts (i.e., hardcore fans who watched and watched the entire series) Mr. T never said I feel sorry for the fool in any of the show's 98 episodes. I'm willing to take their word for it. I enjoyed watching The A-Team in the 1980s and I still watch reruns of the show from time to time on one of the retro TV channels. But I'm not quite ready to watch the 98 episodes and pay close attention to each line. So, for now, I accept the conclusion of the experts of Team A on the question of whether Mr. T ever said I feel sorry for the fool in the series. Comments? Corrections? The producers originally had James Coburn in mind to play the role of Hannibal, but he eventually went to Peppard. The character, who relied vaguely on former U.S. Army Special Forces officer Bo Gritz,[4] appeared in The A-Team from its inception in 1983 until its end in 1987. The character was played by Liam Neeson in the 2010 film adaptation. His frequently spoken phrase I love it when a plan comes together was included in TV Land's The 100 Greatest TV Quotes and Catch Phrases in 2006. [5] [6] Character Biography Team A is a group of former U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers who, towards the end of the Vietnam War, were arrested for a crime they did not commit and managed to evade military police. As fugitives, Team A works as makeshift soldiers, using their military training to fight oppression or injustice. Hannibal, along with B. A. Baracus, Templeton Faceman Peck, and H. M. Howlin' Mad Murdock make up Team A. In the pilot episode (Mexican Slayride: Part 1), Hannibal is described by a fellow reporter of Amy Allen as follows: The leader [of Team A] is a colonel named John Smith. But everyone calls him Hannibal. The guy has a very unorthodox style. Smith takes his name from the famous military commander and strategist, as B. A. Baracus alluded to in the same episode; various elements of the tie literature for the series commented that just as the original Hannibal had driven the elephants over the Alps, this Hannibal had led his men to the wall of Fort Bragg after they were wrongly arrested. He is distinguished by his unflappable behaviour, even when he is in peril, his constant cigar, his black leather gloves, and his many disguises. He is a master tactician (although his plans rarely reveal themselves as they are supposed to; when asked if she thought it would work, Amy Allen summed it up by saying: Hannibal's plans never work properly. They're just working. and seems to have a plan to get the team out of any situation in which they will find themselves. His favorite slogan is: I love it when a plan comes together; we often hear him say Nice after part of his plan has succeeded - sometimes with destructive or He fought in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving in the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam, and is a recipient of the Medal of Honor. His rank was inconsistent: throughout the first four seasons he was called to possess the rank Lieutenant-Colonel, although in accordance with U.S. Military practice, he is most often referred to simply as Colonel. In the fourth-season episode Members Only and the fifth season episodes Trial by Fire and Firing Line, however, he wears the eagle badge of a full-fledged colonel. (His medals in these episodes are also different from those on display the last time he wore his Class A uniform in the first season finale, A Nice Place to Visit.) Hannibal's Social Security number, revealed in the episode of the fifth season Dishpan Man, is 044-34-0681B. To thrive in the adventure and adrenaline rush of potentially deadly situations (or being ur the jur, as the rest of the team refers to it), it really seems to take advantage of all the challenges they face. He is known by his allies and enemies for his cool head and extreme intelligence. There is rarely a situation where he is unable to smile in the face of adversity. He usually lights a cigar when he needs to do some thought, often when he arrives with a plan, or in the heat of a dangerous or exciting time. He is also often seen putting on his gloves when he feels that the action is about to resume (like a fist fight). When captured by their enemies, he will make casual or sarcastic remarks. He regularly distributes aphorisms, especially to their enemies, by defeating them. He also has some medical skills he acquired in Vietnam. He presents himself as a master of disguise, although his skill lies not so much in the way his disguise is convincing, but in his ability to assume any role and convince others that his role is authentic. Most episodes begin with potential clients who come to meet Team A, to be introduced to one of Hannibal's comic aliases. Hannibal uses his various disguises to filter out all potential A-team clients to make sure they are not fronts for the army, sometimes playing more than one at a time. Customers often refer to a . The, the owner of a Chinese laundromat who tells them where to meet the team. Hannibal is also an aspiring actor, playing monsters in low-budget horror movies (being a fugitive, he can only choose roles in which his face cannot be seen). His many roles include Gatorella, Killgator[7] and his most famous, The Aquamaniac. Naturally, Hannibal performs his roles by playing his own agent; in a way always udu the producer of his true identity. Romantic Relationships Dr. Maggie Sullivan (season 1 episode 6 Black Day at Bad - In an unusual moment in the series, it is Hannibal who is able to seduce the main female role of the episode, rather than Face. Maggie Sullivan's character returns in season 2, episode 21 Deadly Maneuvers, where Hannibal and the doctor still seem to take care of each other. Anne Sanders (season 3 episode 4 Fire!) - Team A is hired by a female firefighter played Stepfanie Kramer (TV Series Hunter) who is able to challenge Hannibal. The sexual tension between the two increases throughout the episode. Hannibal seems to give in to a short affair with the woman, and they share a kiss at the end of the episode. She is not seen in the following episodes. Alias recurrent Mr. Lee - The owner of a Chinese laundromat, who often uses clichéd Chinese proverbs and is in an unpredictable mood. Mr. Lee only appears on screen in the pilot episode Mexican Slayride: Part 1 (although a shot of Hannibal as Mr. Lee is used in the opening credits sequence for the first season). However, Mr. Lee's pseudonym is often mentioned throughout the series by clients and the team itself, although these examples have tended to fade after the first two seasons.
