Welcome Back! Shops are Open in Topsham WEALTH CHECK July 2020 The government’s Autumn Budget could introduce tax rises to fund the £300 billion* that has been borrowed during the coronavirus pandemic. Income Tax, National Insurance and VAT – amongst the largest sources of government revenue – were ringfenced in the government’s election manifesto, so any increases to these would be politically risky. However, Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax rises, plus the possibility of a new wealth tax, could be in the government’s sights. How would this affect you? At Rodney Spiller Wealth Management Ltd we bring your family’s future plans to life through expert planning, focus and support. It’s a partnership that delivers a clear strategy, helping you and your family get to where you want to go. The levels and bases of taxation, and reliefs from taxation, can change at any time. The value of any tax relief depends on individual circumstances. However. I Cam finalising risk assessments and working hard to put in preparations so that we can open our two churches, St Margaret’s and St Luke’s, as soon as possible. Please keep a keen eye out for developments which will be posted on A Church Near You at www.achurchnearyou.com/church/8641 (St Margaret’s) and www. achurchnearyou.com/church/8688 (St Luke’s) as well as directly communicated to the wider community and congregations as soon as possible. If, personally, you need to be in a consecrated place sooner than we are able to make available, Exeter Cathedral is now open. Remember though, that God is always with you, wherever you are. Also, that even when the church buildings are closed, the church remains wide open to you - join us as you can or contact me if you need pastoral support. Details on these web pages. Psalm 139 is a wonderful assurance of God’s constant and intimate presence for each of us, at all times, and in all places: O Lord, you have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. Support St Margaret’s Why do we fail to appreciate many things until they are no longer available to us? St Margaret’s has deep symbolic significance to Topsham and the surrounding community and holds the memories of many in Topsham. When it closed many felt a sadness that they could no longer just pop in as they walked by. The Church of England exists for everyone who lives within the borders of the Parish irrespective of their allegiance to or observation of religion. Preparations are being made to open the Church in a limited way. We, like all organisations, have lost revenue during the lockdown. So we are asking the wider community of Topsham to donate to St Margaret’s to ensure that the church that holds so many treasured memories can thrive. Here is the link to the donation platform: https://www.achurchnearyou.com/ church/8641/page/59839/view.
