Let's Pitch In Of the several resolutions adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in Portland, none was more important than one dealing with alcohol and other drugs. The California Southern Baptist was not able to publish all of the resolutions in their entirety, so some of those that seemed more important were printed in last week's issue. This one was one of them. In the first paragraph of the resolution portion, past the whereas paragraphs, this statement calls on Congress "to take action to control advertising of alcohol, tobacco, and other addictive drugs which perpetuate the drug orientation of the culture . . .' The resolution goes on to list some of the governmental agencies that should be called on for help in this situation. Wilbur Korfhage of the California Council on Alcohol Problems has already been at work seeking to accomplish at least a part of the goals established by this resolution, and we hope this Southern Baptist Convention action will give strength "THESE THINGS HAVE 1 SPOKEN UNTO YOU, THAT MY JOY MISHT to the entire effort. Hillcrest, Richmond Crowns 86-Year-Old Homecoming Queen

by Alice N. Hyatt

Hillcrest Baptist Church, Richmond, Levi W. Price Jr., pastor, celebrated the 30th anniversary of its founding with a Homecoming Day featuring the surprise crowning of Mrs. Rosa Jeffery, 86, as queen. Mrs. Jeffery is the "second oldest" member of the church, having been a member longer than anyone else except the much-younger Mrs. Kenneth Hurst, who was baptized at the age of nine. "Rosie," as she is affectionately known, has been a most faithful member through the years, and now finds one of her greatest joys in attending the worship services. She makes her home with a daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Denton.
