Focussing on the production scandal of The Keeler Affair, a feature film that figured prominently in contemporary coverage of the scandal but which has been largely overlooked since, the article shows that this film emerged from a situation in which cultural entrepreneurs, many of them associated with the satire boom, sought to exploit the scandal for financial gain. -

He was employed as a Digital Campaign Manager. His responsibilities included running the Respondent’s social media accounts, YouTube channel, and producing website content and video content. (2) The Respondent is a self-declared “grassroots campaigning group dedicated to reforming taxes, cutting spending and protecting taxpayers”. It is a lobbying group pursuing a right-wing political ideology. It operates from 55 Tufton Street, Westminster, an office block where seven other similar right-wing political organisations are based. (3) The Claimant was summarily dismissed by the Respondent on 13 April 2018. Valuing Changes in UK Buy-To-Let Tax Policy on a Landlord’s Strategic Default and Negotiation Options. Abstract We extend the commonly valued strategic default option by proposing and developing a strategic renegotiation option, where we assume an instantaneous renegotiation between a lender and a UK landlord triggered by a declining rental income. We ignore the prepayment option given that UK interest rates are unlikely to lower in the medium term. We then investigate how a reduction in mortgage tax relief might differentially affect the optimal acquisition threshold and the exercise of the default or renegotiation options. We model the renegotiations by considering the sharing of possible future unavoidable foreclosure costs in a Nash bargaining game. We derive closed form solutions for the optimal loan terms, such as LTV (Loan To Value) and the coupon offered by the lender to a landlord. We demonstrate that the ability of either party to negotiate a larger share of unavoidable foreclosure costs in one’s favour has a significant influence on the timing of the optimal ex post negotiation decision, which will invariably precede strategic default. -

It looked at key macro-economic variables such as house prices, wages, inflation, interest, and mortgage availability to determine how these have changed over time and their subsequent effect on first time buyers. The main purpose of this dissertation was to determine the macro-economic factors that influence first time buyers the most, and how these have changed over time. The issue of the UK housing market, and how accessibility and affordability have all become much more difficult for first time buyers in recent years, is one that is regularly discussed in the media. This study looked to understand why and how accessibility has changed for first time buyers, and the key economic forces behind this. A whole generation of millennials have been aptly dubbed ‘generation rent’. This is due to a lack of house building, soaring private rents, and the increasingly stringent criteria set by mortgage lenders. -

Echoes of shattering glass Guten abend. Let me begin by apologizing for the fact that those might be the only words in German that you hear from me this evening. I really have no excuse. I learned German – twice: once at the University of Vienna and again at the University of Chicago. And I forgot it – twice. Which goes to show that Klug by name does not necessarily mean Klug by nature. I grew up in London. My parents spoke Yiddish at home, which should have given me a solid foundation for speaking German. But, like many Jewish parents of their generation, they did so in order not to be understood by the children. And they succeeded. So, thank you, in advance, for listening. Let me also express my thanks to my hosts for their invitation, especially for inviting me to speak here and now: here, in Berlin, at the Jewish Museum, an institution that I admire immensely, and now, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of Pogromnacht, which took place across Nazi Germany and Austria on 9 November 1938. (In Britain, we still say ‘Kristallnacht’. I know and I respect the reasons why this word has been retired in Germany, and in my lecture tonight I shall use the name Pogromnacht.
