He was employed as a Digital Campaign Manager. His responsibilities included running the Respondent’s social media accounts, YouTube channel, and producing website content and video content. (2) The Respondent is a self-declared “grassroots campaigning group dedicated to reforming taxes, cutting spending and protecting taxpayers”. It is a lobbying group pursuing a right-wing political ideology. It operates from 55 Tufton Street, Westminster, an office block where seven other similar right-wing political organisations are based. (3) The Claimant was summarily dismissed by the Respondent on 13 April 2018. Legal Claims (4) The Claimant advances claims of: (a) Automatically Unfair Dismissal by reason of having made a protected disclosure (s.103A Employment Rights Act 1996 (“ERA”)); (b) Directly discriminatory dismissal (s.13 and s.39(2)(c) Equality Act 2010 (“EqA 2010”) because of his belief that protecting the integrity and sanctity of British democracy from taint and corruption was paramount, which is a philosophical belief protected by s.10 EqA 2010 and in accordance with the characteristics set out in Grainger v Nicholson [2010] ICR 360; (c) Protected Disclosure detriment (s.47B ERA), namely:- _________________________ - Particulars of Claim - - 17 July 2018 - - Page 1 of 38 - (i) Causing or permitting a derogatory article to be written in Brexit Central; and (ii) Instructing Wilsons LLP to write the letter wrongly threatening defamation proceedings; and (iii) Permitting or causing the making of derogatory statements in public and the media on 4 July 2018. -

Beyond general assertions, it is necessary to understand the sources, patterns and effects of Euroscepticism among the British people. This paper aims to provide a detailed picture of how Britons think about the EU based on an online survey conducted two weeks before the 2015 general election. It shows that there is significant variation in UK support for different EU policies. Beyond economic calculations, emotions also form a key component of people’s attitudes towards the EU. About the Author Sofia Vasilopoulou is a lecturer at the Department of Politics at the University of York. Her work examines the theme of political dissatisfaction with democracy and democratic institutions across Europe. Topics include Euroscepticism, the far right, and the EU’s democratic legitimacy. Britain, the City of London and Europe’ led by FEPS, Policy Network and SPERI, which aims to consider the changing nature of the British economy, its place within the European economic space and the consequences of a possible Brexit. The findings presented here take the analysis developed as part of the workshop entitled ‘Diverging Capitalisms, Part 1: The City after the crisis’ held in London in April 2016 as a starting point, and seek to read this in the light of the results of the recent Brexit referendum. In this Brief we consider the impact of Brexit on the City, focusing on two key aspects of the debate: the tensions between the City and democratic politics, and the challenges for the future of the City posed by the vote on 23 June for Britain to leave the European Union (EU). Background • Some time in the next few months the new British Government is widely anticipated to declare formally its intention to leave the EU by invoking Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon; • When it does so, it will have just two years to negotiate a formal exit agreement. -

Britain, the City of London and Europe’ led by FEPS, Policy Network and SPERI, which aims to consider the changing nature of the British economy, its place within the European economic space and the consequences of Brexit. The findings presented here take the analysis developed as part of the workshop entitled ‘After Brexit: British and EU capitalisms at the crossroads?’ held in Brussels on March 24th 2017. In this Brief we provide an overview of the sustainability of the existing British growth strategy, the potential development trajectories of the British model of competitiveness following EU withdrawal, and the strategic disorientation of British business groups. Background • The UK has a distinctive growth model which has emerged since the early 1990s in which domestic consumption is sustained by escalating asset prices and private debt, predicated upon the continuation of low inflation, low interest rates and deregulated financial institutions. • At the same time there has been substantial convergence over the last four decades between British and European capitalism as the result of common membership of the European Union and the creation of the single market, and as a result of the more integrated and open global economy of the neoliberal era. -

REVISITING POPULISM IN THE UK: THE ‘LEAVE MEANS LEAVE’ MOVEMENT By Medini Dinesh Hegde Submitted to Central European University Department of International Relations In partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of MA International Relations Supervisor: Professor Thomas Fetzer Word Count: 16,110 CEU eTD Collection Budapest, Hungary 30-05-2019 Abstract This paper looks into the different subtypes of populism with a focus on the case study of the ‘Leave Means Leave’ movement in the UK. Populism has been on the rise in recent decades and since it is often treated as a thin centred ideology, there is a lot of literature on the different types of populism, each claiming to understand the political phenomenon better than the other. This paper takes explains broad categories of populism – ideology, discourse and political strategy, however, uses a combination of ideology and political strategy to explain ‘how’ the people as conceived by the populist actors have been mobilised against the elite in the UK. ‘Leave Means Leave’ is lobby group that claims to voice the will of the people towards a clean Brexit. They have used unconventional lobbying techniques in order to gain the attention of the elite. However, this voice has been unheard by the establishment and the objectives of the lobby group have been unfulfilled. Thus, this brings an important facet to the fore, that are the populist leaders of the ‘Leave Means Leave’ movement really interested in the delivering to the people their will, or do they mobilise the people only towards their own political gains. This paper explores how the lack of ideology has been replaced effectively by rhetoric towards mobilising people by the populist leaders of the ‘Leave Means Leave’ movement. -
