Service Fees On condition of the ticket being issued and until the day before the flight departure, for the rest of the clients who travel on flights operated by Iberia or Iberia Regional Air Nostrum and who want to choose a seat in the Economy cabin, it is possible from this date to reserve in advance, paying a fee which is applied per leg, according to the following table which includes updated prices of Economy XL seats: Standard XL Seat Amount per leg on flights: Seat Domestic flights within the Peninsula and between the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands or 4 € 10 € Melilla 10 € 15 € To/from the Canary Islands, Europe, North Africa, Central Africa and the Middle East 25 € 60 € Intercontinental flights - America There are no discounts for children and, as we are dealing with a voluntary choice of the passenger, under no circumstances will reductions for residency or large families be applied. It is not necessary for all the passengers on the PNR to choose to pay to pre-select their seats on reservation and it is only done on those legs a passenger wants. Booking and Payment This service can be provided via Iberia.com, the sales offices of Iberia, Serviberia, Serviagencias, Iberia International Call Centres and Platinum and Gold Client Service Centres. It can also be provided by Amadeus travel agencies that have the EMD (Electronic Miscellaneous Document) facility. This virtual and automated document simplifies the payment of this service. Other GDS users have to wait until their GDS develops this functionality. Whether dealing with the payment of a standard seat or a denominated Economy XL emergency seat, the agency will provide Iberia with the client credit card details as well as a contact email address to which Iberia will send information on the assigned seat associated with the flight/route/date of the passenger ticket previously issued by the agency. • The reservation and payment of seats will be simultaneous • Cash payments of seat reservations can only be carried out in Iberia Direct Sales offices. • The pre assignment of seats cannot be purchased with Iberia Plus points or with frequent flyer miles. Guarantee of use Iberia may modify seats reserved for operating, security or control reasons. If Iberia foresees a change that could affect pre-assigned paid seats with sufficient notice, it will try to re-assign a similar seat to that before the change to the passenger. Changes • Seat use cannot be voluntarily transferred by the passenger to another. • Voluntary changes are allowed when the ticket fare allows changes. If the passenger, in accordance with the conditions of said fare, decides to change to a different flight, he/she can choose an equivalent seat on the new flight. However, if no equivalent seats are available, the amount paid will not be refundable. If, on the contrary, the seat is more expensive, the initial fee will be refunded to the passenger and the amount of the new seat will be charged. • Once a prior paid seat flight reservation has been made, it will not be possible to change seat choice for the same flight until 24 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure. The change request should be made via the on line auto checking of Iberia.com or at the check in desk at the airport. Refunds Refunds, which will only be considered in very specific circumstances, will have to be requested within 14 days of the last flight of the passenger itinerary and will always be made via the same payment method through which the seat was reserved. While the management and payment of seat reservations is made via Serviagencias, agencies will manage possible refund requests via said Iberia Unit. Tourist XL Seats - Requirements These seats are found at the emergency exits. So, in order to use these seats, the passenger must be capable of cooperating with the cabin crew in emergency situations. Palabras clave: Historia contemporánea, Aviación comercial, Política aérea, Relaciones internacionales, Turismo, Innovación, Aerolíneas, Aeropuertos Abstract This doctoral thesis analyses the contribution of commercial aviation to the contemporary history, particularly in the field of external relations, international economy and mass tourism. We have identified all innovations with a structural impact on the industry through specialised press, considering the changes on technology, geopolitics, aeropolitics, business models, product and services, and infrastructure. This methodology has allowed us to write the history of the commercial aviation since its origin in 1919.

Fares 10 EUROCONTROL statistics and forecasts Average daily European flights declined by 4.6% in February year-on year, the lowest traffic level since February 2004 and a decrease mainly attributed to severe snow disruptions and industrial action in Europe (see Figure 1). A small bounce-back emerged from the Arab Spring with Egypt contributing the largest increase in flights in February. With the exception of charter, all market segments were down circa 5%. Since it was the most affected by the Egyptian and Tunisian disruptions, the charter segment saw 8% growth on February last year (EUROCONTROL, March). Based on preliminary data for delay from all causes, 38% of flights were delayed on departure in February, a 4 percentage point increase in comparison with the same month in 2011.

  • Who Flies Iberia Express
Who Flies Iberia Express – Not Yet Solved In October 2011, Iberia decided to launch a new subsidiary - Iberia Express - employing new pilots outside of Iberia mainline Collective Labour Agreement. It did so even though SEPLA – the Spanish pilots’ association – had made alter- native proposals which would have saved more money than the setting up of a new subsidiary. Once the company started flying in March, SEPLA reacted to Iberia’s deliberate attempt to split the pilots of a same airline group. Following a four-month industrial conflict, the Spanish Government intervened to arbitrate Nico Voorbach, ECA President the disagreement – a step that had been welcome by the pilots. However, it seems that Iberia does not want to respect the arbitration.
